Ok I keep thinking I won't be any more shocked then I am today and then this was shared with me and I find that I am...

Is this just more falling away and sign of the times we are living in...

Very, very grievous. Pastors would rather fight with one another than pray with one another. Then you wonder why we do not have revival in America.

I believe you are sadly right sister, many churches in america are "not" churches but clubs were they use the name Jesus but live how they want to.

I just received an e-mail with a link to the movie trailer. Although the entire thing was shocking and disturbing, what really grieved me was that one of the pastors at this "Fight Church" said when he was given the decision he said "it was an easy thing to say 'yes' to. Where is the discernment? Where is the distiction between reaching the world and becoming it? Where is the separation between the holy and the profane? The whole pitch is about tough men needing Jesus, and men being feminized in this generation, which I am pretty sure no one would have any argument there, however is this the answer to reaching tough men?

I think this is yet another insight (of many more that will come) of what we are going to see. Violence filled the earth in the days of Noah, and so shall it be with the coming of the Son of Man. Sadly, this violence is being brought into the so called House of God, creating more confusion for people, and giving another occasion for the enemies of God to blaspheme. We need to pray that these men who are involved will truly see the potential damage they will cause with this, and then learn the true meaning of the gospel and manhood. If shooting guns and punching other men is Jesus' model of a man then we are in a pathetic state indeed. Biblical manhood is a dying breed, but this is certainly not the way to restore it.

Just the Word - No opinion

Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:

Jude 1:19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Unregenerate men:
Defiled
1Co 8:7 ...and their conscience being weak is defiled.
Tit 1:15 ...but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
Unholy
1Ti 1:9 ...for unholy and profane...
2Ti 3:2 ...unthankful, unholy,

Regenerate Men:
Cleansed
Act 15:9 ...purifying their hearts by faith.
Tit 3:5 ...by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
1Jn 1:9 ...and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2Pe 1:9 ...and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Sanctified:
Act 20:32 ...all them which are sanctified.
1Co 1:2 ...to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus,
1Co 1:30 ...who of God is made unto us ...sanctification...
1Co 6:11 ...but ye are sanctified...
Heb 10:14 ...them that are sanctified.

Unregenerate Men:
Wicked Heart
Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things...
Act 8:21 ...for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
Rom 1:21 ...and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 2:5 ...impenitent heart
Eph 4:18 ...the blindness of their heart:

Regenerate Men:
New Heart
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you:
2Cor 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
2Cor 4:6 For God, ... hath shined in our hearts,
Gal 4:6 ...God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts...

Unregenerate men:
Without God
Eph 2:12 ...without Christ...and without God in the world:

Regenerate Men:
God in us
John 14:23 ...If a man love me, he will keep my words...we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
2Co 6:16 ...for ye are the temple of the living God;
1Jn 4:12 ...If we love one another, God dwelleth in us

The striking difference between the regenerate and the unregenerate should cause us as Christians to have more compassion for the lost and helps us to "examine ourselves, to see if we are in the faith".

2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

And the issue is what exactly?

Does anyone know what these men preach in their churches, does anyone know if they don't pray together? Does anyone know what their families are like? Does anyone know who these men actually are?

Until then leave room in your hearts before making judgement about something it seems that no one on this thread has first hand knowledge of.

HeartSong Apr 7, 2014

The issue is that these "men" are profaning the name of Jesus Christ.

Z

Heartsong, how so?

Profane the name of Christ, thats harsh, and in my opinion, totally out of place in this discussion.

I watched the trailer and I felt so sad for the little boy being pushed into fighting. You could see he was afraid. The sad thing is GOD wants us to be warriors but not with flesh and blood. He wants us to be prayer warriors men/women of GOD who will stand in the gap and pray, seeking HIM and living righteous lives so that all may see JESUS.

ZekeO,

Yes 'profaning' is exactly the correct term here!

To profane, synonyms: desecrate, violate, defile, treat with disrespect, debase, degrade, contaminate, pollute, taint, etc.

These people are taking the name of 'Christian' (Christ like) and attaching it to extreme violence and hedonism. Just seeing their degrading dress and display of body marking (tattoos) should tell you something.

If you cannot see what the issue is, then well!!!! I'm speechless!

The issue here is that, as is usual with sermonindex, judgements are being passed on news articles that are meant to evoke a response.

Show a little maturity and rather look into matters of this a bit more carefully with topics of this nature that disparage the name of Christ.

Whether you like it or not these 'men' seem to be born again. I'm speechless at your lack of grace, you don't know what spirit you are operating in.

We got to get over getting emotional over such pety news articles. There are more oressing issues at hand.

_____________

After watching the trailer I thought about the violence, and very immodest dress of the woman holding up the signs in the rink as the two fought. So much about this is very sad and troubling.

When I read about this initially, I was somewhat shocked, but the more I've thought about it, the less shocked I am. Christians in America have long embraced the culture of violence and death. We've supported and baptized just about every war America has fought in for the past 300 years, and many within the church have been known to watch MMA fighting. There are even some professional "Christian" MMA fighters out there.

Until we repent of our particpiation in war and lust for more of it, you'll just see more of this.

I wonder what kind of message this sends to the persecuted in other lands. The believers in restricted nations will love their enemies while we have supposed born again pastors beating their faces in a fight ring.

Clearly this is not the gospel of Jesus Christ being portrayed. Thus I would question the faith walk of Christ of those who participate in this conduct.

If these so called men of God are beating their faces in a fight ring. Then what is their home life like? Do they beat their wives? Do they beat their children? Do they kick their dogs?

Violence begets violence. It is very disturbing when one sees the outcome of this conduct.

A true practitioner of the martial arts will normally go out of their way to avoid viokence . They will never employ their skill unless absolutely necessary. That being mainly in defense of others. But certainly never for exhibition or harm to others.

Note I said a true practitioner of the martial arts. One calls into account these pastors.

Ok. Had my say. Bottom.line. Very sad commentary on the church in America.

Ok, I do not know much about boxing but I can read facial expressions. They always look mean - not the kind of expression I want to see on the face of someone I meet on the street. If I were to meet a person like that on the street, I would beat it out of there with a prayer in my heart sent heavenward!

How can a godly person exhibit such an expression and have the love of God residing in his heart?
