What about marriage vows?
EDIT:
So if one would say that vows are not essential to have a marriage, what constitutes a marriage?
Ecclesiastes 5:4
When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.
what about this verse James 5:12
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest you fall under judgment.
Does a giving a promise imply that i can keep that promise in my own strength???? is a marriage vow a promise to God or to my spouse. with the above verse in mind should we even make that promise to our spouse or should our yes be our yes?

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. Matthew 5:37
If your 'yes' is 'yes' to your marriage vows, then let it remain a yes.
If your 'yes' is 'yes' to a contract, then keep the contract.
Seems pretty clear. True, many Christians have broken vows and contracts which is why we need to seriously consider and count the cost of our actions with others.
