When we are tired and get home from work or university? What is the first thing we do, I sometimes want to work out ways to read my bible on the move or listen to it? I am just interested in Ideas.

I tend to enjoy walking wired to my Ipod. The 20gig Ipod even has a record feature you can record class lectures as well as load the bible onto it along with sermons music ect... Blessings---Daryl
Daryl, I am technologically challenged. After much time of waiting, I just received my new Dell DJ 30 (yeah!!!). I have virtually unlimited space for sermons and bible, and music, but now I can't figure out out to load it up (or down). My wife helped me put some CD's over to it, but the downloads from websites are where I get stumped. I have been listening to bible on cassette for a couple of years and get many cassettes from Charity Gospel Tape in Penn., but I work construction and everything gets dirty. I found a pair of amplified speakers, so my new DJ is now a work radio. If there is anything (tips or help) that you can give me I would be thankful. I don't know if this helps, but it uses Musicmatch jukebox 10 to manage the media. Thanks and blessings, Barry
swsojourner's recommendation can wholeheartedly confirm. Have had this audio bible for a few years now and his voice is wonderful to the ears without being dramatized beyond measure or 'forced'.To get creative is a wonderful idea brother. To have God's word enter through the ear and the eye gate or even separate can give different perspective. Often found just in listening straight through a particular book could take days on end being that the want of repetition could keep me pinned to a certain subset of verses on one CD and being that thought's arise they lead on to even more thought, question and surprise! "I have to listen to that again"...It also can bring forth even more of a desire to plunge the depths in reading if you are listening on the way to work or wherever your circumstances find you.Psa 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. It should have a drag and drop feature. Just download to a folder on your computer and then drag and drop that download to your musicmatch jukebox. it's that easy , but in case I'm wrong I'll ask a friend of mine who represents Dell in thier networking dept. Having the Bible in cassete/cd format is great. There is also the old fashioned way.This book of the law shall not depart from thy mouth; and thou shalt meditate upon it day and night, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all that is written therein; for then shalt thou have good success in thy ways, and then shalt thou prosper.(Joshua 1:8)Apparently the hebrew word for meditate has the sense of 'mutter'. Spend some time thinking, muterring (inwardly or outwardly), and contemplating some passage. Memorise by rote if you can or if not try simply remembering the thrust of a passage and spend time thinking about it.Better to learn the bible (and its author) slowly and thoughtfuly rather than qucickly but shallowly.Be blessed

Daryl, thanks for the info. My wife again came to the rescue and we were up late last night downloading (or uploading?). I had a great day at work again listening and weeping before God as I heard the Duncan Campbell revival account on top of David Wilkerson's call to anguish (sp?). I do need to get the bible though, thanks for the input. Right now I'm still carrying the tapes, the tape player, mp3 player, and speakers, and it is kinda' cumbersome. Thanks again and God Bless. I don't seem to have as much time to read as I do to listen, and I have heard that men tend to gain more from the listening than women (can't prove that), but I enjoy listening. As I listen though, the Holy Spirit inevitably will cause something to stand out in a way that causes me to check it out further. I can then go home and get out my bible and reference books and dig in further. This study seems to be more fruitful that my daily reading efforts were before listening started. Also the number of times I can go through scripture give me better recognition skills to determine false statements made by people and taking in more text at a time gives a broader "feel" for the scriptures. It kind of gives you a wider view for personalities such as Paul, contexts etc. Hope you enjoy! God bless, Barry
