Unreached of the Day: Tenbo, Loron of Cote d'Ivoire

Tenbo, Loron of Cote d'Ivoire
The Tenbo (or Loron) people in both Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso are probably among the least developed people groups in their respective countries. They normally live in isolated areas with little or no access to schools, medical facilities, or potable water. Families normally live in homesteads separated from other families by small planting areas. The Tenbo people are animist in that they believe the inanimate objects they create represent the spirit world. They fabricate fetishes, or idols, (punibo) from wood, clay or metal. Appeasing the demands of these 'gods' dominates every aspect of their lives. They believe God (Nyelye - sky) created everything, but 'it' has no further interest in people. They offer sacrifices to their idols to ensure, among other things, an adequate food supply, protection from spirits which can harm or kill, healthy children, and harmony in the community.

Ministry Obstacles
Spiritual opposition will surely be encountered when the Gospel message comes to this tribe. Workers need to be prepared for this.

Outreach Ideas
Pray for the ongoing work among the this group by missionaries in neighboring Burkina Faso. Pray their hearts will be incredibly receptive to God's message.

Pray for the followers of Christ
A few of the Tenbo tribe have become followers of Jesus in Burkina Faso. Pray they will have a burden to share in their villages and across political boundaries.

Pray for the entire people group
Pray for the Tenbo people to gain an interest in sending their children to school, and that schools will become available. This tribe needs to make many adjustments to a changing world.
