I really did not want to go to the conference in Barnsdall as it was terribly inconvenient at that point in time. Additionally, I was missing all of my traveling gear. The problem was that it seemed as if the LORD really wanted me to go ”“ so I kept stalling "just to be sure.” At about 9:00pm, the night before the conference started, the LORD let the frequencies in the little house I was renting became so loud that there was no way I could stay. So I packed my stuff, loaded up the dog, and drove straight through from central Texas to Barnsdall, OK. I took little cat naps here and there as the LORD allowed.
Unfortunately I forgot to ask the LORD why He wanted me to go to the conference, so at lunch time, when the dog tugged on the leash and caused my lunch to topple to the floor, I missed the cue to fast. It was only after I finished eating that it dawned on me that the LORD would have me to speak. So I went and bought some pens and paper and then went to my room to pray, but was so tired and tangled up by that point that the words would not flow past the first two pages. It is a very difficult thing to write about something that people hate to hear, especially after such a poor start out of the starting gate.
Try as I might, I could not get past the first two pages so I just left it at that and trusted that the LORD would fill in the gaps along with providing a time to speak. He did provide a time to speak as it was set up that there would be a time for testimonies ”“ but I forgot to pray and ask Him to set the stage, so all of the time was consumed. I failed on all points.
The drive home was plagued with wrong turns and missteps. I also picked up chiggers some where along the way, which is very uncomfortable when you are driving. As I drove, the LORD showed me where I had erred. I asked Him to forgive me and thanked Him for all of the valuable lessons as well as for letting me go to the conference. It had been such a very long time since I had opportunity to gather with the saints.
