Greetings I am looking for information on self publishing a book. I know some on here have done so and I just would like to know what your thoughts, tips, experiences with doing so have been?

Thank for any help and advice the LORD leads you to share here.

God bless

Hi MJ,

I personally used https://www.createspace.com/ I believe it is an offshoot of Amazon. I found it relatively simple and it cost me around $1000 but you you can do it with them much cheaper, around 300-400. Obviously it depends on size of book, mine was over 500 pages and I also used their illustrators which you do not have to do............bro Frank

dear sister,

Frank is right this is probably the best option out there and is owned by Amazon which gets it available to the easiest and best place to buy the book. It is actually free to publish with them. But if you need help towards typsetting, cover design and other steps then they are paid models.

Just a warning there is alot of technical steps hence Frank mentioning it will probably cost money to do this which will make it much more simple in the process.

We published the principles book through this process: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1489557318/

here is a link to Franks volume; http://www.amazon.com/Poem-Every-Psalm-Psalms-today/dp/147811343X/

The writing and publishing process is long and involved. I wrote the book, then had a friend who edits for a living proofread. After that I had the publisher do a proofread and I was amazed at the mistakes that were still found. It might be worth it to pay for proofreading.

If you plan on having paper books printed there are more expenses, minimum orders, etc.

I paid for proofing, cover design, and for the book to be made available in all of the e-book formats and listed with amazon, barnes and noble, etc. I also bought a quantity of printed books. It was somewhat expensive, but I am glad that I had the support while I published.
