I saw a small animal that looked like a dog but it wasn’t. I couldn’t really tell what animal it was. It had a dark brown head and a silky off white body.

"Do you see that animal? That’s Barack Obama. He is a black man trying to be a white man.”

I don't understand this statement. Is there a certain quality about black men (other than the color of their skin) that makes them different from white men?

The statement is clearly aimed at one black person therefore nullifies any general quality about black men!

Okay.....I will bite. But, I tried to gently tell you before.

So, lay it out. What is prophetically significant about Obama "passing" (slang for black person acting white)? The God who does not look on the outward appearance suddenly speaks about one's heart as equal to an outward appearance? Does this not tell you that your own thoughts are untrustworthy?

And, WHY does it matter? Assume Obama IS "acting white". (I do not, BTW, think he is. In fact I think about him very little at all.). So what? He is biracial, you know. Has he been "acting black" all this other time? Come on. Is there some mysterious spiritual meaning behind this prophecy? Or, is God just annoyingly reading aloud under His breath over your shoulder while you read the September Klan newsletter?

Or, does God just give you these sort of birdshot thoughts and oughts without giving you application? Because it seems to me that the Holy Spirit who points the way to Jesus, who brings things of God and His Word to our remembrance has, if I try to follow you, opened up a franchise of His own.

"And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone." Eph 2:20

The role of the New Testament prophet does not compare to the role of the Old Testament prophet. First, the Scripture, that which is our authority to discern and judge, is built upon the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ being the Chief Cornerstone. "All Scripture is given by inspiration"... And to exalt any portion of Scripture over another will end in error.

Therefore, to disbelieve any word of God is to disbelieve God himself. Although I believe, covet and appreciate the Biblical explanation of the gift of prophecy within the local church as it exists and is explained in Scripture, there are many problems with the "prophetic ministry" so called, today. To name just a couple:

1.) There is a grave error that the gift of prophecy today is co-equal with the prophetic office in the Old Testament.

Not so. We are commanded by Scripture to test prophets, prophecy and if we have this gift to control it. Does that mean we test what Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel etc. has written? Of course not. The authority of these prophets came from God and the words uttered, recorded and written are inerrant, infallible and eternal!

What it does mean is that the New Testament gift of prophecy is confined to the boundaries of the local church, and a christian who indeed serves in this way, (as outlined in Scripture) is therefore confined to the boundaries of his/her local church. Scripture makes this restriction, so the local church to which he/she is a member of can test what is being put forth for the entire congregation.

"Prophecies" posted online or in books that modern day publishers are peddling resemble in many ways fortunes found in cookies at Chinese buffets at best, or mediums at worst. If ever we have needed discernment in the body of Christ it is now!

2.) There is leaven in the "christian" community in regards to the "prophetic" movement that is taking over everything.

Unfortunately, the model of the "prophetic" ministry that is seen on television, the internet and modern publishers is being mimicked in the local church. Where are the pastors? Where is discernment? Although I am not a cessationist, what Dr. John MacArthur did with the Strange Fire Conference was courageous and necessary.

I pray the Lord grant discernment to his people in this day of delusion. May Christ be honored, and His people always remember that, "The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus!"

sermonindex Sep 5, 2014

As towards prophetic statements on SermonIndex, we ask saints not in general to post these. Also not to use the forums to constantly promote their own writings or teachings.

Towards prophesies we believe if there is a valid utterance of the Lord it is best done in a local assembly. The Lord does speak through some featured sermons and messages to the sermonIndex website audience but we do not want the forums to be a place for personal prophesies.

If someone feels a valid word from the Lord towards SermonIndex they are free to email it to the servant leadership of the website.

We are locking this thread and ask that sister and others do not post personal "thus saith the Lord" statements though we do not despise or think that saints cannot be given by the Lord such statements.
