Open-Air at "Earth Day", Missouri

Open-Air at "Earth Day", MissouriApril 24th, 2005This day was filled with preaching to pagans, witches, lesbians, and plain old-fashion God mockers. A group of Christians invited me to come and preach with them in Missouri, so I am here now. Today we started off by going to a Church. The service was nice but on our way out, I saw two men walking side by side with their arms around each other and they kissed on the lips (not the brotherly kiss Paul wrote about), right there in the Church! They were openly flaunting their homosexuality which I have never seen that before in a Church. I was deeply burdened by it.There was an "Earth Day" event going on in the downtown area with hundreds of people out there all to thank "Mother Earth". We arrived around noon and scoped out the area. There were hand-reading tables, pagan religious tables, “save the trees and animals” type tables, and a host of other things, not all bad. There was also a concert going on with hippie style music.We found a nice four way intersection walk way with a nice traffic flow. There was a little grassy hill that I could stand on to preach and there were not any venders near by to complain. It was perfect for preaching, minus the concert going on behind our backs. I started preaching "Hundreds of people have come out here today to celebrate the earth. And we should be thankful for the trees, and the grass, and the air. We should be thankful for these things, but we should thank Father God not Mother Earth. I see idolatry today when people thank the creation rather then The Creator..." No crowd really gathered but a man dressed up as a Wizard was walking by. He had the staff and hat and the whole “wizard” outfit on. "Witches, Warlocks, and Wizards God will judge". That got his attention and he started heckling me which drew a crowd of teenagers who sat in the grass to watch the man with a bible battle the man dressed as a Wizard. What a sight it must have been. Someone in the crowd threw a piece of bread at me, which certainly isn't like being stoned, but it did had ketchup and mustard on it and stained my pants. I found it humorous actually. We have it so easy. Stephen got stones; I got mustard and ketchup staining bread. Maybe someday I can preach as powerfully as Stephen.As sorts of questions and comments were heckled out, one which I'll mention. "LET HIM WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE!!" screamed a heckler as she walked off. "Yes, this woman made a great point. But who is without sin? God is without sin and He has 10 stones which he will throw. On Judgment Day the "thou shall not lie" stone will be thrown and will shatter all liars (as I acted out throwing a stone like a baseball). The "thou shall not steal" stone will be thrown and will destroy all thieves. (As I acted it out). The "thou shall not commit adultery" stone will be thrown and will kill all those who have had sex out of marriage. (As I acted out throwing a stone again) But two thousand years ago Jesus Christ took the weight of the Law upon Himself, and it came crashing down upon Him on the cross like boulders falling off a cliff. He was crucified from head to toe for our sin. He gave His life so we could receive life. He died so that we don't have to die. Therefore turn to Christ and live".The crowd size varied in size, but still remained a very nice crowd the whole time. One young man holding a bible viciously tried to oppose me for preaching repentance. He went to the other side of the street and started screaming out "God loves everyone. God loves everyone". The crowd of mockers, lesbians, liars, thieves, idolaters, and God-haters all said "there is a real preacher. He is a real preacher!" as they walked over to listen to him. "God loves everyone. God loves lesbians" he said as the crowd clapped with great joy! Even sinners loved his message. I said "If Jesus preached as you preach, he never would have been crucified on a cross! But Jesus Christ said "unless you repent, you will all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3). His preaching was short lived, you could only say "God loves you" so many times. The crowd left with him, so I worked up another crowd which I don't believe I've ever been able to do with such ease before.I handed it over to another brother who preached much on loving God by repenting and God loving us by Jesus dying on the cross. I thought it was wonderful and brought much balance to the preaching since I focused much on sin and the wrath that is to come. After he preached I preached again and drew a small crowd which resulted in one-on-one with a pagan who seemed to embrace universalism. I think that he was really impacted as I reasoned with him. Then after a couple of hours of preaching we decided to call it again. I think it was a wonderful way of starting a week of repentance preaching.

This is really encouraging stuff!We have a real problem with the new age here. In some places you can actually feel the oppression of it. I didn't realise it until i moved away from an area steeped in witchcraft and was almost pulled in to it myself before God called me to Manchester and saved me.Hearts are hard here and i believe evangelism here is going to be tough, no bread with ketchup and mustard here, other things maybe.This is why i've applied (i've applied!) for the bootcamp to be equipped using priciples i believe will be an effective tool in evangelising here. We really need to pray that God will prepare the hearts of people here to receive the gospel.Almost everyone i've shared with about evangelising using the priciples taught by Ray Comfort have been very very sceptical. Id like to change that. The evidence will be in the fruit.Please if you have the time pray! Pray that God will prepare the hearts of the people here so they will be ready like the good soil so we can sow many seeds and reap the harvest.In His love, Geraldine

As a follower of Christ, thank you. It appears to me that he is not preaching love and grace (which really, God is all about) but he is preaching himself, which you so eloquently pointed out.
