The Futility of All Endeavor, Futility of Futilities.
1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
2 "Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,
"Vanity of vanities! All is vanity.”
3 What advantage does man have in all his work
Which he does under the sun?
4 A generation goes and a generation comes,
But the earth remains forever.
5 Also, the sun rises and the sun sets; And hastening to its place it rises there again.
6 Blowing toward the south,
Then turning toward the north,
The wind continues swirling along;
And on its circular courses the wind returns.
7
All the rivers flow into the sea,
Yet the sea is not full.
To the place where the rivers flow,
There they flow again.
8
All things are wearisome;
Man is not able to tell it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor is the ear filled with hearing.
9
That which has been is that which will be,
And that which has been done is that which will be done.
So there is nothing new under the sun.
10
Is there anything of which one might say,
"See this, it is new”?
Already it has existed for ages
Which were before us.
11
There is no remembrance of former things;
And also of the later things which will occur,
There will be for them no remembrance
Among those who will come later still.
The Futility of Wisdom
12 I, the Preacher, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I set my mind to seek and explore by wisdom concerning all that has been done under heaven. It is a grievous task which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with. 14 I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and striving after wind. 15 What is crooked cannot be straightened and what is lacking cannot be counted.
16 I spoke with my heart, "Behold, I have magnified and increased wisdom more abundance than all who were over Jerusalem before me; and my mind has observed a wealth of wisdom and knowledge.” 17 And I set my mind to know wisdom and to know madness and folly; I realized that this also is striving after wind. 18 Because in much wisdom there is much grief, and increasing knowledge results in increasing pain.
I Arthur, feel similarly to the above. What makes life interesting?, rewarding?, that which brings happiness?
"Life is as tedious as a twice told tale." Writes William Shakespeare. I find it to be true.
Something happened to me, I had an explosion in my brain. The effect was a loss of memory and of memory recall. Now, I find that I could see my favorite Movies, TV Shows, play games as if I'm playing them new, and a few months later, again I watch them again practically as new. I'm never bored. On the other hand, I forget many things I ought to remember. I can't hold a job. I'm okay per se. I trust God in all things. My future is in His hands.
I've had 3 very unusual dreams - two in my youth, and another about 10 years ago, involving God.
Spirits never die, only our body dies, our spirit goes to God, and the Great JUDGE decides. I tend to believe there are other planets with life, with different adventures and things to do, with other spirits like us, plus there's God's realm.
See and read: Isaiah 65:1-25 A New Heavens and a New Earth!
2 Peter 3:10 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
[A New Heaven and Earth] "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up."
Todays accepted science also confirms that our Sun will eventually expand, and when that happens, the sun will expand and encompass Mercury, Venus, and Earth.
2 Peter 3:13
"But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells."
In my science education, A new Heavens and a new Earth, means a new planet (to us) in another part of the universe, the stars there would have planets and star constellations quite different than those we see in our current solar system, and is habitable for life like our present Earth, but different and better - I suppose.
