Being Homesick for Heaven

sermonindex Mar 2, 2015

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. - Hebrews 11:13

We are living in a passing world. All things are decaying around us, life is but a breath as the scripture says. Life is a fading rose a delicate flower here today and gone tomorrow. We have a beautiful picture given to us from the Lord of many believers in the past who followed in the way of faith. What is this way of faith? It is simply living realizing every moment this is not our home, not our resting place. There is a city we are looking towards a heavenly home.
Have you ever felt home-sick desiring to be back in a place in this earth? This is how true believers feel from time to time, we get homesick for our true resting place in heaven with Jesus. It is not wrong or bad to feel like a stranger in this world to desire to be with the Lord. Soon we will be there, what joy it will be. All our longings met and the crown obtained. Fix your eyes, hearts and minds on things above today dear disciple of Jesus our city is there we will walk in its streets soon.

The longer I walk with the Lord the more homesick I feel for going home. I long for the day where I can fully rest from fighting the sin in me, from the toils and the troubles of this world, when I can just sit/kneel at His feet without distractions all the day long and worship . Oh what a glorious day!
