submissive wives

so this was shared with me and i can only say i have some very serious doubts about how this show is going to be. based off what i have read so far this woman is so far off the mark of what a loving submissive wife is suppose to be. seriously God did not intend for women to be slaves to their husbands. His intention was that they be helpmates. yes submission in Christ is Biblical but what this is putting forth seems to be contrary to that. who would ever suggest to a sister in Christ "you need to dress like hoochie mamma" i don't care if its suppose to be for her husband or not. God speaks of having a modest heart and dressing modestly not putting oneself on display.

i get its only a preview of what the show is about but seeing how television loves to twist and usually distort anything from the Bible I fear this show will only do more to try and drag down the real meaning of being a Biblical loving, supportive, submissive wife.

rdg,

The world will always misunderstand a Believer.

1Corinthians 2:14: "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

And, even among so-called Christians folks will run off the rails on one side or another. Some will justify abusing their wives into "submission" while others will react and say the scripture is a woman hater.

The devil's mission is to confuse folks and he has done a grand job at that. I think Believers do well to not read or listen to these folks - it will only serve to confuse a body.

My opinion.

This is a clear mockery of God's command. A submissive wife is possible only with a loving Husband. They both go together.

I recently had a serious debate with my colleague in official social media platform. My colleague posted that Christianity is responsible for oppression of women because it commands women to submit to husband but no such command to husbands. I showed him the complete picture. I said 'love your wife like Christ loves the Church' is equally or even harder command than submission command. If we seriously look into the standard of love referred in the command, we will know it is humanly impossible.

Such commands and the value that it brings are very difficult for unbelievers to understand. What has women liberation movement by female activists in family achieved? More divorce that is all. Has it resulted in happy families? Increased family values? Answer is NO.

Our pastor recently taught an excellent series on "love and respect" based on husbands love your wives and wives respect your husband.

He talked about the cycle where a husband loves his wife biblically (what she needs) then she will respect him (which is what he needs). If the husband is not loving then the wife will not respect, and vice versa. Then we have a downward spiral.

If we find ourselves in a downward spiral one party (our pastor argues the husband) should step out of the spiral and begin loving (if the wife steps out of the cycle she would start respecting) in order to get the love/respect cycle restarted.

Makes so much sense but so many marriages fail because of the downward spiral that goes uncorrected.

honestly i didn't watch this show but from what i have heard from others it was awful. the wives in this show are not representing a Biblical view of what it means to submit to our husbands. its sad because all this kind of thing will do is cause confusion for women who might be seeking to live for the Lord and submit to their husbands.

As TMK said i do believe there needs to be love/respect in a marriage. the ideal Biblical marriage is two coming together to submit their lives to the Lord and do what He calls them to serve and further the Kingdom.

i am not surprised at all though that television has this so wrong just sad for those it will confuse or cause to stumble.

I do not want to judge your pastor here, but honestly it should be Love and Submission series not Love and Respect. Respect is needed for all human being irrespective of they are husband or wife or even children. A husband needs Biblical love to get Biblical submission from his wife. Though the word respect appears in Ephesians 5:33, the first command to wives is to Submit to their husbands. It is a submission that comes out of respect for authority of husband. Not just plain respect.

I think by replacing the word submission with respect is to please the feminists who have made submission a bad word.

I once heard a TV pastor saying Husband should submit to wife then wife to husband and they both should submit to one another. Where did they get such strange doctrines? All to please people who want equality.

Sree--

The idea is that a husband's basic need-- that which makes him tick- is respect from his wife. Call it submission if you want to- but the Bible clearly states that a woman should respect her husband (Eph 5:33). A wife's basic need (that which makes her tick) is a husband that shows her love. Respect toward her husband is evidence of a wife's biblical submission. She is much more likely to do this if the husband is loving her biblically and vice versa- thus the cycle.

The pastor did not ignore the verses referencing submission.
