Excellent DVD on the proofs for the Exodus

Dear saints,

I have just finished watching a new documentary on the proofs for the Exodus, and it is simply overwhelmingly excellent!

Here is the title: "Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus", by Thinking Man Films.

I heartily recommend it, for three reasons:
1) It will edify the saints and build your faith;
2) It may just convince skeptics to reconsider their position; (after all, love hopes all things)
3) It will make you praise God for yet more evidence that shows why the Bible was right all along, in the face of so much skepticism.

May the Lord bless you.

P.S.: If you're interested in another recent documentary that shows why you can trust the Bible from a scientific perspective, you should also get "Evolution's Achilles Heels", by Creation Ministries.

Why do we seek secular evidence to support God's written word?

I'd say because 'we know in part'. So, to me, it's being a good steward of the knowledge entrusted to us. 'Make a ready defense in season and out'. Let's remember many generations ago people thought the earth was flat and used the bible to 'confirm it'. I prefer the diligent study of scriptures, not just a surface reading but everyone's motivation is different.

From Wikipedia:

According to Exodus 12:37”“38, the Israelites numbered "about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children," plus many non-Israelites and livestock. Numbers 1:46 gives a more precise total of 603,550 men aged 20 and up. The 600,000, plus wives, children, the elderly, and the "mixed multitude" of non-Israelites would have numbered some 2 million people. Marching ten abreast, and without accounting for livestock, they would have formed a line **150 miles long**. (My emphasis)

Whoa.

Todd,

They crossed the Red Sea and it took 1 night to get over
2 million people went across it in less than 10 hours .
The Red sea at Max width is 221 mi but they probably crossed near Perim Island.
with an width of less than 20 miles.

So 2 million people walking for a maximum of 10 hours at 2 MPH
will get them across nicely.
That would indicate a far shorter and far wider line of people than Wilkpedia speculates.
What doe this mean? I have no idea.

I just had never really considered the logistics of moving 2 million people (excluding animals). How in the world they communicated from one end to the other I have no idea.
