This became an issue in the head covering discussion. It was intended only for those in favor of this. But others- including me- stuck their noses in. Sorry.

But I am not sure how practical this type of thread is.

For example- If I began a thread entitled "Age of the Earth- for old earther’s only” I know that all the young-earthers would be chomping at the bit to post in that thread. I am not sure that they could control themselves. I couldn’t blame them.

Perhaps this forum is not the right type of place for that type of discussion- maybe a Facebook page or something like that would be a better avenue than a seemingly public forum.

It is hard to expect people to simply stand down, especially on some of the more debatable issues. Besides, most debatable issues are debatable for a reason.

Dear brother, it was our intention to simply have a place where healthy questions could be asked and people could explore this without being called legalistic. We did not it also a place where others are condemned for not doing it.

There was no problem in you posting in the thread, we just wanted it to be more of a less abrasive thread where sisters could participate more, men seem to be more to the point at times.

I do think some subjects are more geared towards certain brethren, ie topics for women related issues are more prone to women for instance discussing. To always have our opinion is not encouraged because sometimes it can hurt others, I know that works both ways. Let us be guided by the law of love, we are all not perfect.

I felt like the head covering thread went down hill very fast with some attacking and even judging and questioning the hearts of woman who do not cover their heads. It was mentioned that the purpose for the thread was so that woman could explore this topic with out being labeled legalistic, but it seemed ok for some to call those who do not cover rebellious...maybe it would have gone better if no name calling had been allowed.

i have nothing but love and respect for those who practice cover their heads because the Lord convicts them to do so. it hurt deeply to have some question my heart and motives because i do not do so.

Sister, these probably were some comments by men who were reacting to others calling it legalistic. I think you have a great view to respect others convictions and likewise those who practice should respect your freedom not to. In the end the Lord can only show us what is obedience to our relationship with him.

I do think both sides of men especially started to cause tension in the thread, I did not read one sister judging others. Appreciate your graceful responses and heart in the end.

TMK you still did not get the spirit of the Head Covering thread. Calling it 'members only' thread shows your understanding.

No where did Greg tell that only those who believe in Head Covering should post in that thread. The purpose of that thread as I understand is to get those who have genuine questions on Head Covering to find answers. As Greg made it clear, he supports Head Covering, hence that thread is for those who want to know the Biblical reason behind the Command of God.

Since you yourself said in that thread that your opinion on Head Covering will not change no matter what someone answers. You sounded like those Pharisees who questioned Jesus, trying to trap him. No matter how divinely wise the answers of Jesus were, they did not agree on the divinity of Jesus. So your participation and that of some other brothers sounded like they were more interested in Mocking the support for Head Covering in SI. It is fine if it was just another public forum in which mocking is fundamental right of posters. But this is a Christian forum, not just any other public forum.

I honestly cannot judge the spirit in which you have posted, but based on your own posts and also on some mocking posts of other posters, showed clearly that there was a spirit of Pharisees. Please forgive me if I have hurt you.
