He doesn't catch you through the convicting power of the Holy Spirit and then when you profess faith in Christ reel you in and throw you in the box with the rest of the fish so he can take a look now and again and brag about how many He caught today and how full His fish box is. Each and every saint apprehended by God is caught for a purpose.
12 Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
14 I press on towrad the goal of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:12-14)
What is your "that" (verse 12) and your "it" (verse 13)? What is that which God saved you for" What is "it" that He would have you be about? The overall goal is to be conformed to the image of Christ and obtain to the resurrection of the dead but along the way He has a "that" and a "it" for each of us usually tied in with our placement in the body of Christ. If we are in a race in this life to obtain God's will remember race cars don't have rear view mirrors and runners in a competition are told to never look to the side and defintely don't look back. Racers and runners are to always press on!
God doesn't fish for fun but with a specific purpose in mind for each and every fish He reels in and catches.
Blessings.
