The Call To Overcome:
As we witness our nation and the world being drawn into increasing turmoil, it would almost seem that the enemy is winning on almost every front.
May the Lord open our eyes to see the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over the powers of darkness.
May we rise up above the heavy oppressive atmosphere and take our place as being seated with Christ in heavenly places.
Jesus has already told us that we would have trouble in this world, but He also said that we are to rejoice because He has overcome the world.
We are overcomers by the very nature of the new birth, "for whosoever is born of God overcomes the world."
God has given to us exceeding and precious promises, that by these promises we would be par takers of the divine nature. We are not looking to be raptured out of here to avoid the trouble, but we know that we are called to reign in life as Kings and Priests. We reign with Him because we are one with Him, and greater is He that is in me than He than He that is in the world.
We do not deny the reality of perilous times coming upon this earth, but we acknowledge the greater reality of the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
There are many wonderful promises of God "to him that overcomes", and overcoming is not a matter of who we are in ourselves, but of what Christ has already done through the finished work of the cross, and what the Holy Spirit is doing within His Church now.
"For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." (1 John 5:4).
