"Father, into your hands I commit my spirit"

I was listening to a teaching on this passage yesterday and the speaker said that these last words of Jesus on the cross were also used as a bedtime prayer by Jewish children in those days and one that Jesus likely was taught when he was a child. It is based on Psalm 31:5.

I never knew this and I thought it was especially poignant, particularly for Mary who was standing nearby and heard him pray this same prayer when she tucked him in at night as a child.
