Brothers and sisters,
I know I have been most ardent in my calls to focus on revival.........here is testimony from a precious man Duncan Campbell, who was used of God in the Hebrides Revival of 1949-53, I believe this will fill and thrill your spirits, it did mine, Duncan has always been a Godly mentor to me, though we have never met in the flesh.

This is the most elevating of all the narratives from the Hebrides revival, and I love the way Campbell ends it: "I cannot explain it, except to say that God is sovereign!"

Does this therefore mean that revival happens 1) when we somehow by something we do get God to move; 2) we see what God is doing and join Him or 3) it just happens and if we are fortunate we may be near where it is happening

the story of the Hebridean Revival of 1949-53 is told by Duncan in this testimony, divided into two parts by our dear brother Greg, because SOME of Duncan's "sermons", are more testimony slash exhortation, than a boilerplate seminary taught 3 point "sermon"...but my point is sometimes the audio quality isn't 21st century sharp....but the Quality in the Holy Ghost?

you asked some wonderful questions about Revival, the foundation of any revival is travailing prayer, breaking up prayer, and sometimes it literally tears you apart.....You heard of Evan Roberts, the 24 year old choice vessel God used in the 1904 Welsh Revival?

oh my, God gripped that dear lad with such intensity, in the pulpit, he would literally break apart and weep, so intense, pleading to God, "Bend the Church, save the world!".....or "Bend me Lord! Bend me!"....people would fly to pieces under intense conviction of the Holy Church, and i'm not talking about mere emotionalism, we're talking a deep purging cleansing Work of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Thanks Neil-

I heard a lot of Campbell's testimony on the Revival Hymn comp- I believe there was another instance where Donald prayed Ps. 24 and the Spirit fell.

I also know that some old ladies were praying for revival in the Hebrides before Duncan arrived.

But as you know, there is often travailing prayer for revival that does not result in corporate revival(although it does result in personal revival!).

So I often wonder if it is a matter of praying amiss, not prays enough, not paying attention to what God is doing, etc. I know there is no real formula but I agree that prayer is and always must be the starting point.

No worries- you weren't being patronizing.

Yesterday I spent some time "touring" the Isle of Lewis in the Barvas area using google maps street view to get the lay of the land. Pretty interesting.
