Godly sorrow brings us to repentance:
In 2 Corinthians 7:10-11 (KJV) For Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.
7 Repentance steps from verse 11:
1.) Carefulness : After we turn around and are cleansed 1 John 1:9 we must be careful to avoid sin. Watch and pray -----. Avoid sin situations--- Matthew 26:41
2.) Clearing of yourselves: After clearing yourself spiritually and restoring your relationship with Jesus, clean up physically. Do a house cleaning and eject all that tempts you or is evil. Do not go back to old friends that tempt you.
3.) Indignation: Having righteous anger against sin; Hate sin.
4.) Fear: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and Matthew 10:28. Whom should you fear?
5.) Vehement desire: This is great desire not to fail and includes strong action to avoid sin with the help of Jesus.
6.) Zeal: This refers to zeal and passion doing the work of the Lord. Fill your time with work for the Lord.
Why? Evil spirits may take over the space that was vacated if not busy for Jesus, Matthew 12:44-45.
7.) Revenge: This revenge refers to turning your back to sin, the flesh, the world and the devil. Christ has set us free. Learn to walk in the Spirit to not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Make a U-turn from any sin situations and turn your back to it.
