A Public Apology

sermonindex Mar 14, 2016

My Brothers and Sisters,

Brother Greg is encouraging the new members to read and agree to the community guidelines that govern this forum. I thought I should go back and review those guidelines myself. And as I did so I find myself sorely convicted.

I wish to humbly apologize to any brother or sister whom I may have offended by my posts. There are times I get passionate in my posting. But that does not give me the right to offend anybody unnecessarily. If I have offended anybody. Please accept my heartfelt apology. If there is something that you need to discuss with me privately where I have grieved you. Then please contact me at pwprayercall@gmail.com.

Brothers and sisters one of the things that was recommended in the guidelines is that we pray before we post. Actually that is a good matto, pray before we post. Let us ask ourselves will this post edify the body? Then read our post again. Then pray again. Will this post edify the body? If we do these simple exercises. Then our posts can become much more edifying.

I have visited other Christian forums. I believe Greg is blessing us by allowing us the freedom to post as long as we do it in a Christ-centered way. This forum by far tops of the other forums I have looked at. My brothers and sisters let's keep Sermonindexnet forum a top forum by policing ourselves and keeping our posts Christ-centered and edifying.

I want to say that I respect each person in this forum. You bring a lot to the table. And for those new members that are joining us. We look forward to your contributions.

Respectfully posted in gentleness.

Brother Blaine

Edited for typos.

Great words brother. I good reminder for myself as I post topics for discussion that edify and bring Glory to God.

Brother blaine,

The Spirit and attitude you are expressing is that of Christ and denying yourself for others. This is the reason why SermonIndex forums can be salt and light because of brethren like you that choose the way of the cross in the small things and show love to the brethren.

here is the community rules for those who have not read them or want to review: https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=44556&forum=13

Honestly Bear we may disagree at times but I am never offended by your posts.

I appreciate your reminder, however.

Likewise Todd. Brother I know we have spirited disagreements. But I am never offended by what you post. Actually you challenge me to stay on my toes. :-) And that is always good.

Your posts have increasingly become for me the type and attitude I want to display toward others. I'm wondering why you're apologizing because if the rest of us can carry your spirit we won't be doing so bad I'm thinking.

I have enjoyed your posts dear brother, and was blessed to meet you a few years ago as well.

Hi Blaine,

I'm concerned that your conscience is telling you apologize for something you know you said in the wrong spirit but your pride is preventing you from asking forgiveness from the person or persons who you believe you have offended.

Rather than brokenness, I am seeing some self righteousness. Only a short part at the beginning of your post is the apology, the rest is flattery and teaching.

We have had other frequent contributors who have come to this place, made a nonspecific repentance and then taken a break where God has brought them into humility and removed their desire to be preachy for themselves. Their famboyant, outspoken personas are replaced with a desire not to be in the limelight. Upon returning to fellowship, they don't have to speak in every discussion or fight for their cause.

God is faithful brother.

Jeremy,

I do not see this at all in Brother Blaine, and I believe that you have misjudged his motive and intent of what he is saying in his post.

I agree with Blaine that many of us have been guilty of writing a reply to some post out of the soulish realm without praying about it first. This is the cause of strife and division with some of the controversial issues that are discussed on Sermon Index.

We should have much more than our opinion to share on this forum. We should be sharing what is pleasing to the Lord to the edification of the Body of Christ, and putting our own personal preferences aside.

sermonindex Mar 15, 2016

Jeremy,
I think I know what you are attempting to say but I think you might be overthinking things a little. And I hardly think that this public forum is the place to address this with brother Blaine. Perhaps an email...or call him?

And lets not kid ourselves that this public forum is, or even closely resembles the body of Christ. Time and time again there are issues where people argue without end and (restrained) fights erupt. And then when the dust settles people just leave or drop out and that's the end of it. Close communal accountability can be found within the body of Christ, but not in public forums. Its impossible.

When we are actively involved with the body of Christ in real life relationships we really go out of our way to speak to one another and treat one another as Jesus wants us to. In a public forum it is not so. People come and go as they please and if it suits them just go quiet and or they leave. True "body life" doesn't work that way, we can't just live any way we please...we are members of one another.

Thats not to say that we should not strive to speak in an edifying manner, but this is christianity 101 and certainly not reserved for public forums. In our speech and our actions we must be self controlled and Christlike at all times and with all men.

Hey y'all
Just had to give a sisterly view here.
Sermonindex, be it voices from the past or present and fellowship in writing,I gotta tell you, it is all I valued and a gift of God for
those of us isolated or in a church where fellowship is not very deep.
I love so many on the forum because you are all the body of Christ. I'm blessed when people work out their beliefs and differences and share testimony here. One can't possibly read or hear every sermon or post but God always blessed me here. I've been challenged, confronted and even convicted as believers share here. And I'm so blessed when people are humble enough to apologize.
Let's face it we've certainly heard conflicting voices even from the great preachers and teacher's archived here.

I believe God is pleased that we gather here and discuss, exhort, encourage and even chastise. God disciplines those he loves. So I honestly love hearing men of God rise up and speak so fervently for the things of God. And women. And I do pray for so many here and thank God for this "fellowship in the air" :-) May iron sharpen iron here until such day as we All have face to face fellowship. Thanks Brother Blain for being vulnerable. God knows your heart.

Jeremy, to quote Charlie Brown, "good grief."

sermonindex Mar 15, 2016

Jeremy, respectfully, my post was motivated by conviction of the Holy Spirit. The Lord convicted me when I saw how one brother was treated by another in this forum. In imploring that brother to kindbess in his posts I had to get the log out of my own eye.

The Lord did bring to mind one person in this forum that I offended. I sent them an email asking for forgiveness. Thankfully that person has extended forgiveness.

Brother if there is someplace where you feel I have acted inappropriately. You may contact me at my email pwprayercall@gmail.com. Or I will be glad to provide you my cell number in response to an email if you would like to talk privately. I would rather not post my cell number in a public forum here.

Also dear brother I don't think I have been commenting that much sense I have started this thread. Matter of fact I haven't even commented that much on this thread.

Willing to talk with you brother and receive any instruction to you may have regarding my conduct in this forum.

Respectfully and gently posted.

Brother Blaine

Rededited for additional wording.

Blaine

I apologize to you for having led you to create a response to reprimand me (nicely). In return you apologizing to all those you may have offended in the forum. Your apology would not have occurred and the resulting critique would have not followed. Sorry about that. It was a grade A apology in my books.

Carmine I accept your heartfelt apology. Though you have nothing to apologize to me for. Knowing that God is working in you the grace of humility and forgiveness. He is also working that out in me. So for sure the Holy Spirit is working in both of us brother. Or is it sister. :-) I do not know if Carmine is masculine or feminine.

Anyway God bless you richly friend.
