House churches are "brick and mortar", churches. They don't meet in parks. Can you explain what you mean?

Brother I think the sister is encouraging saints to post churches in their area where they are being ministered to. That way anybody in the forum looking for a church might find a christ-centered fellowship through these posts.

I do agree that house churches are not brick-and-mortar churches. And even brick-and-mortar churches are not churches. The church is where two or three people come together and Jesus is present.

When we think of "brick and mortar" stores we think of something opposite online stores so I was trying to figure out what was meant by "brick and mortar" churches. I have always heard institutional or denominational churches and then house churches.

But you really made the right point, "where 2 or more are gathered in Jesus name".

If you are not gathering in Jesus name which means centering on and around Him, then it's not the right kind of fellowship we want. A Christ centered fellowship, (not doctrine centered, man centered, issue centered, etc.) is what is most important.

You have to be discerning with any gathering, even house churches. Bricks or no bricks doesn't make it safe, only each heart holding fast to the Head.

I would also add that it's kinda important (Biblical) to be in a place where not only the preaching/teaching is solid, etc., but where the actual type of Body ministry we get specific instruction on in the epistles (especially
1 Corinthians Chapters 11-14 is actually possible/feasible/actual). I had been in ministry at a large church in Dalas for years & yearning to see this for real in real life (not just rare tiny glimpses). I met other brethren who felt likewise. We started a house church there years ago. Learned a lot, saw some things that were learned from, etc. Years later, God brought us all together in a home fellowship here in Albuquerque, NM, & brought more brethren along the way too. Pretty special to see the gifts operate, the Word exalted, community type close fellowship, etc. Not always "comfy/easy" though. Well worth it though.

The Lord has gotten through & done things in our lives that just don't get done/dealt with typically in the IC "Theater" type setup (come in, sit down, watch & listen, shake hands, & leave).

I won't give mine as l doubt anyone would go there as it is not evangelical enough but it is two minutes from my home and the Lord convicted me one day, that His word is being read out in public there, in my vicinity and l should support that even if l do not agree over theology.

It is a joint Anglican and Methodist venture and is actually exactly like what Watchman Nee said the local church should be - no emphasis of anything that could cause division.

The folk there are lovely.
