Letter to the Editor:
George Orwell wrote 1984 as a novel, yet it chillingly foretold today’s democratic world and its suicidal slide toward communistic destruction. Orwell declared,” In a day of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” It is hard to fathom just how far America has fallen from its foundation as our twice elected president recently surmised in Cuba that "it really doesn’t matter if a nation is capitalist, communist or socialist as long as each generation just chooses what works for them!” How deceived can a people be to have elected this man not once, but twice?
The Bible is clear that when a nation turns away from God, deception becomes rampant, and destruction will be its lot. How else can you explain why our elected leaders have created Sanctuary Cites where illegal criminals can legally hide from law enforcement? What sane rationality can possibly be used to explain how we insult our allies and then give billions of dollars to enemy nations that call us the Great Satan and vow to wipe us off the face of the earth? What else would explain how our president fights to keep our borders open to illegals, yet is hell bent on closing our only prison for Islamic terrorist? Why would a nation create public policies that: destroy families, punish Christians, reward laziness, destroy education and tax its middle class to death?
There are only two plausible explanations. The first is that evil leaders are purposely trying to destroy the nation that God has used to steer the world. The second is that because of this nation’s rejection of God, total blindness and national insanity has set in as is warned in the twenty-eighth chapter of Deuteronomy. In either case, the end is the same. The 2016 National Day of Prayer theme is: Wake Up America. America, like Sampson, is sleeping in the lap of her enemy and she has provided the very scissors that will cause her demise. Our only hope is for those who put their trust in the God of Sampson; He never sleeps.
