The secret to being used by God is not to push forward with our own strength of personality to show what we can do for Him. Rather, it is about humbling ourselves under His mighty hand, and dying to our own desires and plans. We must climb down from the throne, and ask Jesus to ascend and take over control of your life.
Our parents' generation lived according to the words of the rebellious Frank Sinatra song, 'I Did it My Way'. The outworking of that humanistic mantra can be seen in the sin and decay of Western society today.
As followers of Christ, we must denounce managing our own lives, and beg the King of Kings and Lord of Lord to take over. Only then will we see the kind of resurrection power so many long for, which can transform not only our own lives, but our families, communities, and nations. Only then will we be numbered among those of whom the Bible says, "They do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God" (1 Peter 4:2).
