Remember when you fell in love for the first time...
Think back over the thoughts and actions that followed....
No one had to tell you to think of this person "an hour a day"
No one had to tell you to do things to "express your love"
No one had to coach you to tell others of this love
In fact, you probably spent too much time thinking of them....
speaking of them, bringing them into the conversations...
thinking too often of ways to please them...
staying up late and getting up early to express this love to them by doing things that would affirm it....
Why did you do this?
Was it because you "had too" or because the love you felt itself compelled you?
No one really had to ask,... it was obvious, written all over your face, in your eyes, in your speech, even in the way you walked or skipped ha!
This is why Jesus says, "if you love me you will keep my commandments",..
Not because you have too,... but because you get too and nothing nor no one can turn you aside from that which you love.
It's not a chore or a work as it were, but it is the desire of your heart and even this God gives us;
Romans 5:5a the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts...
Now this is not Gods love for us that He gives us....
It's His love for His son:)
Even this He shares with us, He holds nothing back-
So Paul can ligitimately say "Everyman is without excuse"
So Jesus says "return to your first love"
Then keeping His commandments will be as easy and joyful as was doing the acts of love when you first fell in love:)
Nothing.... Not wild horses could keep you away from Him:)
The love of God will compel you if you will receive it-
You will love to read His words...
To hear His voice...
To tell His story...
To drink of His cup...
To fellowship in His suffering...
His concerns will be yours because He has your heart...
His life will be yours because you gave yours for His:)
