As noted in a past discussions on this forum an officer is "persecuted" for proclaiming his faith while on duty.

Below is a link to an example of an officer demonstrating his faith while on duty... And he isn't persecuted but commended...

What's the difference?

The situations are different. In this situation the cop is responding in compassion, having mercy and not holding someone captive against their will. Very different than the other situation.
