"… In the morning I lay my requests before you…” (Psalm 5:3b NIV)

In the Psalms, we see the effective and fervent prayers of David, who prayed with urgency and who prayed daily before doing anything else or speaking with anyone else. Then””and this is all-important””he looked to God in earnest expectation that the Lord would answer. David was saying, "Every single morning, I’m going to get alone and pray from my heart, and then I’m going to expect God to answer the requests I’ve brought before him. I’m going to look up and see what God will say to me.” How few of us do that; but it’s exactly what Jesus told us when he said, "Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Can’t we start to do that? I enjoin you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t you want everything he has for you? Don’t you want blessings and power and peace and joy? Don’t you want to discover callings and gifts that you don’t even know are on your life? They’re going to come by this kind of practice we see in David.

We have to come before the Lord and think about what we are facing. Sometimes there’s no emergency, but we need to lay before him what’s going on that day, because we’re going to face people and different situations every single day. Do you need traveling mercies? Are you going on an interview? Do you have to make decisions? Are you having trouble getting along with a difficult coworker? Are you concerned about changing jobs? Have you lost your job? In short, what are the things that are affecting you? You’ve got to take time and survey the land without rushing through some mechanical prayer. Wait… Take time… Just talk to him””about your children, about your grandchildren, about the people who are on your heart. Are you concerned about somebody you know is in trouble? Do you have a family member that’s sick? Do you have a wayward child or spouse? Just get quiet, survey your life, and then start talking to the Lord and bring everything to him. And if you don’t have anything to say, then just be quiet and wait. He might bring something to your remembrance.

I experienced great blessing before when I tried this. I did it for a while then I stopped. I whish I could keep it up. I am going to start again. I would also include reading the bible in the morning watch as Andrew Murray taught. In his book The school of obedience the whole chapter 4 is about the morning watch. Amen,

Our beloved brother and The Lord's evangelist Keith Daniel preached on the neccessity of having "quiet time" before the Lord each day. Just look at where God has taken humble men like himself, which leaned not on their own understanding, but came to the realization of the Truth which is in Christ Jesus - "Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you" (1Peter 5:7), and, Christ Himself speaking to the people,

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. I AM the Vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in Me, and My Words in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be My disciples. As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue in My Love. If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My Love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His Love. These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full." (John 15:4-11)

Men of understanding walk in the fear of the Lord, and know that without Him they can do nothing. God sends providential dealings into their lives to bring them low, to mold them and shape them into the image of His Son, to try the reins of their hearts, that they may lean wholly on God, come what may into their lives. The "quiet time", spending time with God before we spend time with others, shows that we are dependant on Him for all good things. For He is the One who has given us this time in the first place; may we use it wisely, and give it its proper course - giving it back to Him, and being as little children, walk in the fear of the Lord, for the days are evil and the saint's enemies are many - our flesh, the world, the devil, false brethren, etc. But, blessed be the Lord, God with us and us with Him, by His grace, we can be more than conquerers, giving all glory to God in Christ Jesus. Oh the Love of God, beloved, let us bow in worship and in sincerity of heart. For He came to set the captives free.

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he shall flee from you. Draw nigh to God (the condition), and He will draw nigh to you (the promise). Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts ye double-minded. Be afflicted, and mourn and weep: Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord (the condition), and He shall lift you up (the promise)." (James 4:7-10)

"It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statutes. The Law of Thy Mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn Thy commandments." (Psalm 119:71-73)

In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and He was praying there.

Jesus is our example.

This morning I woke around 3 a.m. . I had been listening to my audio Bible through the night. Felt a need to simply get up and talk to the Lord. Not so much presenting prayer requests before him. As simply talking to him heart to heart. friend to friend.

It was a rich time. A blessed time. Prayer is simply conversing with God. Prayer is simply talking to Him. What Adam did in the cool of the day. We can do in the early hours of the morning. And even throughout the day. As we continually have His Spirit in us. We can converse with God throughout the day.

God loves those who seek Him early. Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me..
If we start the day with the LORD JESUS we will have a fruitful day. We must not only tithe in money but we MUST tithe in our TIME.. He is jealous for us..
