My wife was letting our dog out for his nightly business trip when she spotted a snake in the Jackson vine on our house. It had eaten the baby robins we had admired earlier this evening. I knocked it down, vine and all, into the leafy flower bed and then hoed it to death. Thought about shooting it but feared ricochet off the brick. It rattled and in the dark it was hard to tell what kind of snake it was at first. It was just a chicken snake though. But that rattling action in those leaves had us believing it was a rattler for just a minute or two.
