MINGO COUNTY, W. Va. - There's a new sound coming forth from the hills of southern West Virginia - a sound many prophets have foretold but haven't heard until now.

For the past three weeks, the large sports complex in the small coal-mining town of Williamson, West Virginia, has been filled to the rafters with people crying out for God.

It all started when Tennessee evangelist Matt Hartley visited a local church for what was supposed to be a three-day revival service but it just kept going.

"This is not man-made, charismatic, hyper spiritual," Hartley told CBN News. "This is the presence of God that is overwhelming us, that is being released upon hungry people that are tired of just stagnant Christianity and "safe" church."

"They want Jesus more than anything else. That's why they're here," he said

Greg is Dan Baiser aware of this?

sermonindex May 1, 2016

Brother,

I emailed Dan Biser this. This makes me think of Ravenhil's defintion of revival, I am sure God is involved in a wonderful way we must just be careful to label something as revival easily.

Revival Lectures Series - Short by Leonard Ravenhill

From the message:

I think that one of the offenses of revival, in the historic sense, is that it cannot be organized. As Doctor Tozer said, "When revival comes it changes the moral climate of a community."
You can have revival that covers a church -- Spurgeon had that.
You can have a revival that covers a city.
You can have a revival that covers the whole nation -- and I am thinking in this context more than in the other contexts (though sometimes revival spreads from here to there -- like fire spreads.)

Revival cannot be organized -- evangelism can be organized.
Revival cannot be subsidized -- evangelism can and usually it must be.
Revival cannot be advertised -- evangelism can.

I have been following and contacting about this. Unfortunately, there are numerous red flags about what is touted 'as God'. It is not to say that God has not begun a work here; however, we also know that men can taint the work of God. I am hopeful of follow-up with many in this area.

I just read the article that was posted. It seems something is occurring in West VA. Let us pray that this is genuine. The test will be changed lives that stand the test of time.

Anyway I will be optimistic and pray that this be a move of God. And that last will be changed.

It is amazing to me that when God starts moving somewhere how the critics start coming out on this forum, trying to define what is going on.

This could be the start of a revival, and I don't have a problem calling it a revival when the Spirit of God is moving in High Schools, young people are getting saved, praying, and having bible studies.

Why don't we thank God for what He is doing instead of always trying to define it, because of certain things that we see that don't fit our definition of revival.

What is going on in West Virginia is exactly what we have been praying for, and I am going to do all that I can in prayer to see it spread.

"Many of these areas where the Lord is moving are old coal-mining towns that have been nearly destroyed from economic downfalls.

Coal mining was the heartbeat of the land. Even though young boys would watch their fathers die from mining-related illnesses, they would still carry on in the mines, putting tradition and history first.

When the industry went under, these families not only lost their incomes, but their identities.

"I think there is really a great measure of desperation particularly in Eastern Kentucky, in the mountains, an increased desperation in those areas by and large because of loss of jobs in coal mines," Curry says. "This desperation is drawing hearts of people to return to the Lord, and it's reflected in the revivals that are happening."

Is the Lord giving us some insight into what it takes for men to turn to Him with all their heart?

Psalms 91:14-16
Because he hath set his love upon me,
therefore will I deliver him:
I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him,
and shew him my salvation.

Isaiah 55:1,3
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters,
and he that hath no money;
come ye, buy, and eat;
yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Incline your ear, and come unto me:
hear, and your soul shall live;
and I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
even the sure mercies of David.

"Not sure who is critical of it?"

It is a critical spirit that is always trying to figure out if something or someone is of God, rather than just rejoicing with those who believe God is doing something in their life. I would know because I really struggle with a critical spirit (just being honest) and know exactly how this lousy thing works. Many times it tries to pass itself off as "discernment" and gets a pass from other clever people who are gifted with this same "discernment". I will bet that you can already find lots of heresy hunter websites tearing this things down, even in its infancy. I'm actually trying hard to not google it...pray for me:-)

I thank God that kids are waking up boldly sharing Christ and praying for their friends and their nation. I thank God that people are coming to know Jesus and lives are being changed. Are they perfect? Is it going to look like a Jonathon Edwards revival? Probably not in both cases...but so what? Lets pray for these kids and ask the Lord do an even greater work in and through them!!!

Blaine you asked:

"Greg is Dan Baiser aware of this?"

The question could be: is Jesus aware of this ?

My questions would also be

Is this work similar to the Welsh revival or the one that Duncan Campbell was a participant in?
