To the Christian who demands an answer to the question - "Where Is The Power?"

Sometimes, we will hear believers ask of other believers, "Where is the power?" "Where is the glory?" "Where is the true revival? "Where is the Pentecostal power of Acts?" Sadly, these questions are often asked with an accusatory tone.
What the questioner often forgets is that he or she must answer these same questions over their own life. While each of us should desire to live in the fullness of all that God has for us, if we cannot produce in our own life what we expect and demand from others, we should practice silence and prayerfully ask God to make His power known in our own life.
If you think you have arrived and are the epitomy of New Testament Pentecost, you have only one hurdle to cross...you must prove it...you must demonstrate it and show the rest of us the way. If you can...great! If not...be quiet!
Finger pointing never produced one revival. Concern in these areas is important...but prayer is the most appropriate response.

The question is also asked 'What is the power?"

A majority of people see the Power of God as miracle healing. Yet that feeds into the lust of the flesh to always be wanting such a thing. The lesser known power of GOd is when a soul becomes Born again because it is only God who can do such a thing. It is one of those things that is a miracle but many don't see it as one and excuse it for some kind Jesus experience of emotion only to wait to see if they return to the former life. Or is it an emotional experience of someone who just got set free only to be sssssh by someone else?

When a person goes to church how do they know the Power of God is there? Is it the Gospel? The silent working of the heart of a person that others cannot see? It sometimes feels like a game of trivial pursuit.

There have sadly only been a few times that I have entered a church service and felt the presence of God. Every time there is a heaviness- like heavy drapes resting on my shoulders- a hush in the room, and tears. Always tears.

What are you feeling when you feel the Presence of God?

I don't know what that feels like outside of suddenly having a Presence in which I want to repent, or stop and close my eyes and just worship type of thing. Beyond that it all goes into what I hear in the preaching. It has only been in the last 6 months that I have really discovered when a sermon is good and when it is not.

Well, I have felt the heaviness I described. There is a joy but it is hard to describe because it is mixed with solemnity- a feeling that I shouldn't speak. Almost always there are quiet tears. Not tears of sadness but a sense of being overwhelmed by God's presence.

Very rarely have I experienced this in response to preaching. It may be during worship but far more often when someone is praying very humbly. I have been in prayer groups where we experience this and often it is a response to someone reading a passage of scripture.

I remember one time the Spirit fell when a brother read the passage where Jesus picks up the scroll and reads the passage from Isaiah-- "the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed mento preach the gospel to the poor..." The brother couldn't finish reading because the presence of the Lord was so strong-- we all felt it.

Definitely wasn't looking to rebuke you or anyone else. Just thought it was needful to share. Thanks for your imput.
