So many people are wrapped up in this utter nonsense. I have good friends who are wrapped up in this. The level of non-discernment is alarming.

This is a great critique and even better teaching.

Quite a number of years back I was tempted to get swept up in this. The deception is very subtle because what the teachers in this movement say sounds good but if examined closely it does not stand up to scripture.

We attended a church for about 6 months that was part of this movement and it didn't take long before it was clear that the gospel was never preached. There is a lot of talk about healings and prophetic ministry etc etc but the gospel is never preached. Further, the Word in general is not preached. Scripture is referenced but it is not preached. It almost seems like it is assumed that everyone knows the gospel. The lack of emphasis on the written Word is obvious and understandable-- they don't want people to know the Word because they will be exposed.

On watched a good portion of it early on on that Saturday and there were a LOT of good things about it and there was two definitely anointed people. One were the Koreans and a man teaching on the history of racism! (wow)

But as the afternoon wore on, I was not in sync with what was going on. I finally stopped watching as the Catholic guy kissed Lou (somebody's) feet and then he kissed the Catholic guys feet!!! I was thinking, "Oh my, I wonder what Frank would say?!!" LOL

And I couldn't help but think through most of what I was watching, "I don't think this was like the original Azusa Street Revival at all."

To boil it down, what I saw for myself was man trying to do man's will for God instead of allowing God to do God's will for man.

Just my take, God bless,
Lisa

first to you beloved Lisa, you wrote:

AMEN! Two of my "brother/fathers" I adore in Christ are bro. William Seymour, who was the "nominal leader" of that humble barn at 312 Azusa Street, Los Angeles, and bro. Frank Bartleman, who penned "Azusa Street" in 1923 (I think) would be GRIEVED beyond words to see this video, which I could make it thru 4 minutes of.

"Azusa Street" was the first non-canonical book I read after Jesus flooded my soul, and this book, and this brother just lit me on fire! in fact as I read and re-read it, I realized dear Frank and I had similar visions, and similar personalities traits in the Lord and he gave me several ministries in that time period 2002-05....including my sign ministry along Topanga Canyon Blvd, which was a 20 mile long canyon road outside LA, in the Santa Monica Mountains, 40,000 cars a day passing thru......simple messages stapled up on telephone poles, "Jesus Is Lord", Jesus is Love", etc.....did the Beatitudes, etc....and this canyon was the "hippy canyon" full of new-agers, crystal worshipers, and FOR REAL outright 'satanic covens"....so the sign ministry just stirred up all hell and the devil...GOOD!...I had to get a big ladder, because these servants of satan would go after the signs right away...I love Frank Bartleman, and God willing, I want to take my talents and do an audiobook of "Azusa Street" for the Body, and its cost?.....FREE!

and William Seymour?....according to Bartleman, would keep his head buried in the top of two "shoeboxes" he used as a pulpit, during the meetings.....and wouldn't bat an eye, to shut down any brother or sister who was "in the flesh".....but he would do it gentle-like.

oh....and then to watch this old mess?,,,,but bro Todd, bless you for bringing it to our attention.

(Lisa, btw, the next two non-canonical books I read were "The Life of Brainerd" and "An Instrument of Revival < Evan Roberts", which was like pouring gasoline onto a fire!!! Praise God!!!)

much love in Jesus to you both, neil

I was watching the Azuza street event until indians came and starting banging drums just like they do in rituals in Canada. I lost interest fully at that point.

Brethren we do not need another Azuza street revival we need another Pentecost. Some "isms" were formed from the 1907 times including initial evidence of speaking in tongues. Before that the Baptism in the Spirit was taught but the emphasis on initial evidence was not there.

Though I believe the Lord will verify many times the baptism of the spirit in one's life by some type of way, to demand one specific occurrence of a gift has brought more division into the body of Christ.

I agree Greg. We need another Pentecost. So why are you opposed to Brother Blaine posting on this website to have prayer for our cities? One of the sisters on the website suggested this, and you seemed to like the idea, and brother Blaine wants to facilitate the prayer call, but then you won't allow him to post the information of the prayer call.

I thought that part of the Sermon Index agenda was to pray for revival. But I can see clearly that you have your own ideas about what a revival is going to look like, and I suppose it is a revival with no tongues are supernatural manifestations. It is a revival that man can control, just like you are trying to control the prayer calls.

We have had two prayer calls already with three sisters and with Brother Blaine, and there has been no wild fire going on. It has been an anointed prayer time, led of the Holy Spirit.

I just want you to know that Brother Blaine had nothing to do with me writing this post.

Dear brother,

I rejoice that you have been encouraged with Blaine's prayer call. We ask saints to simply not use the forums to promote personal valid ministries, and on the site there are MANY included in that. We are glad to see things start and see SermonIndex help saints connect into different ministries. But we are not seeking to establish ministries as endorsed by sermonindex unless the Lord leads into this.

There is a prayer call that SermonIndex endorsed and pioneered 3 years ago and it is still running but we do not post it as much on the forums now. It is established and has a wonderful core group of saints.

We have posted blaines prayer ministry for the persecuted church many times and we are glad for saints that connected into that ministry by doing this. There are hundreds of valid ministries that are represented on SermonIndex but all of these do not seek to find a following through the forums, we trust we can tread lightly in this way and allow the community as a place of growing in Christ.

We are again glad for certain ministries to begin or be encouraged but do want the forums to be a place that anyone can start a ministry outreach towards saints on the site. I hope that does not sound controlling but wise, as we have simply sought to be a steward of what the Lord is doing through this website. I hope that makes it more clear as we support Blaine personally in what the Lord has called him to do in prayer calling ministry, etc.

(I hit the submit button before I wrote a thing, so here's what I wanted to post to you)

"..... including initial evidence of speaking in tongues. Before that the Baptism in the Spirit was taught but the emphasis on initial evidence was not there."

since the Lord led me thru Trisha to my "first" church, which was an AoG church, it has always disturbed me that "initial evidence" is a CLOSELY held part of the "what we believe" in that denomination, along with the mostly black COGIC denomination....

in Acts, on the Day of Pentecost, what folks heard outside that Upper Room was "xenolalia", which refers to speaking in many real languages......while the "modern initial evidence is "glossolalia" , which be can be defined as speaking in either a variety of different languages or speaking in incomprehensible sounds/gibberish/non-real languages.

and to think that man stamps one must "speak in tongues", the glossolalia version to demonstrate the Baptism in the Holy Spirit...just doesn't ring right.

there's a lot more I could write, experiential happenings to buttress this, sometimes the less said, the better. God is sovereign in Revival, and looking around in these dark and strange times...oh my, we desperately need Revival, and as the past has shown, to stir the Lord, we have to get desperate...in prayer.Holy desperation, as in Jacob's late night wrestling match, "i won't let you go till you bless me!".....Bless us!

oh, my heart is heavy. But I fully agree with what I quoted you on.

sermonindex May 12, 2016

you responded, when pressed for a noised about prayer meeting:

" But we are not seeking to establish ministries as endorsed by sermonindex unless the Lord leads into this."

I can understand this on many levels, and ministries are ministries , but prayer meetings among saints GRIPPED with holy desperation are entirely different...in my meek opinion, ministries, God love them , are saints doing things FOR God, whilst humble prayer meetings are dead to self, burnt out of flesh saints imploring God to come down in power....REVIVAL.

so my prayer is that the Lord "leads (you) into this"...I gotta tell you that, because this website is a huge global outreach, and if all we're doing is arguing about this doctrine and that doctrine, instead of seeking revival thru tear soaked, desperate prayer, well....maybe we should just anoint ourselves for burial, I write this with love.

did you hear the lastest news today?.....NATO just turned on its Romanian based missile defense shield, reason given to protect Europe from "Iranian missile threats", but that's a bald faced lie, its the set up for a pre-emptive nuclear first strike on the Russians....believe me, the Russians are scared, and a nation that has multiple thousand warheads, and nuclear subs, its not the best strategy to get them scared.

maybe that's what God has planned...I don't know, it does buttress what He has been telling me, "i see mushroom clouds", but how many will die, without knowing Jesus?...and Revival is wholesale time for souls to go from death to eternal life in God.

oh my heart is so heavy...i'm going pray that He moves you to see different on the matter of a prayer meeting noised about on this website...holy xo, neil
