Ten Points of God's Healing

F
FranklinB May 23, 2016

This article is to those that might be going through a physical affliction and wondering if it is God's will for you to be healed. I just want to encourage you that it is God's will that you receive your healing. Let me make these points to help convince you of that because I want you convinced so that nobody can talk you out of it. First, In Matthew 15:26 Jesus said healing is the children's bread. What is bread, it is your right. Every child has a right to be fed. In fact, it a father's obligation to feed his children. And Jesus said it(healing) is the children's bread. Second, God the Father is the most loving father and in Luke 11:11-13 the point Jesus is making is that if you being evil know how to do good for your children how much more God. James 1:17 says, every good gift comes from God. And Act 10:38 says, God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power and with the Holy Ghost and power Jesus went about doing good healing all that were oppressed of the devil. So, healing is a good gift from God. I want to make this point because there are those that say these bodies are just dust and they don't matter to God. But, yet we see God anointing Jesus to heal these dust bodies and he did not turn anyone away. Now, what natural parent if they had a child out playing and the child fell and was bleeding badly tell them, "Now baby don't worry about it your body is just dust." NO, a good parent would pick that child up rush them in the house, nurse their wounds, put a bandage on them, dry there tears, and do everything in their ability to make it better. Well, how much more God. Third, Hebrews 1:3 says, Jesus is the express image of God and Jesus said he only did what he saw the Father do so everytime Jesus healed it was the Father's will and not one time did he turn anyone away. Not one time did he say, "God is using this to teach you something." Not one time did he say, "I'm sorry, but it's not God's will. You know all those religious ideas people come up with. Not one time did he say no and God does not change Malachi 3:6.

Fourth, God anointed Jesus to heal. Jesus told his disciples to heal. Jesus told believers to heal. So, healing must be one of God's top priorities. Fifth, Jesus was lashed and cut open for your healing Isaiah 53:4,5. He was beaten so badly he didn't even look like himself Isaiah 52:14. Now, how can anyone say that healing is not important to God. Sixth, God has an assignment for all of our lives and without these bodies we can't fulfill them. Seven, Some say that it's more important to be saved than healed. And I agree totally, but God provided for both 1Peter 2:24. If He provided it then He must wants us to have it. Eighth, Jesus said many are sick and sleep(dead) because they don't discern the Lord's body, that it was broken for your healing 1Corinthians 11:24,29,30. People recognize that what Jesus did brought salvation, but they don't realize that what he did brought healing so they don't receive it. Ninth, Everything about Jesus speaks of healing. The lamb in Exodus 12 is a picture of Jesus and notice as a result of eating the lamb everyone was healed Psalm 105:37 (make a note of that from point 8). In Numbers 16 the atonement Aaron made for the people represents what Jesus did for you and I. And in Numbers 21 that serpent on the pole represents Jesus on the cross taking our sins. Notice, in every case it brought HEALING. Tenth, In Acts 5 and 19 God used handkerchiefs and even a man's shadow to heal people. Look at God. So, do not let people minimize God's desire for you to receive your healing. And do not let them trivialize what Jesus went through for you to be healed. So, if you are believing then keep believing. God Bless!!!!

Brother respectfully are you saying God wants to heal everybody?

T
TMK May 25, 2016

Bear-

It would seem that would have to be our "default" position. Otherwise how could we ever pray a prayer of faith?

sermonindex May 25, 2016

Then brother what of those people such as Joni Erickson Tada who have prayed for healing but have never seen healing in their affliction. Is anyone in this forum going to say that thus sister did not have the faith to believe that God would heal her?

Could it be that God chose not to heal her to reveal His greater glory? His greater glory to display His grace in this sister to use her to spin off many different ninistries to minister to the disabled.

It is a dangerous position to assume that God wants to heal everybody. When people pray for healing and don't receive it. Then the burden is placed on them that they don't have enough faith.

Don't get me wrong. I am all for praying for the healing of somebody who's in affliction. But we have to leave it to God and His loving sovereignty if he's going to heal that person or not. If that person does not receive healing. Then it may be that God has a greater purpose to show his grace.

This was certainly there case with the Apostle Paul. Whereas we do not know what the thorn in the flesh was. He entreated the Lord 3 times to take it away. But the Lord said no. But that His power was made perfect in weakness. That's when Paul was weak the power of God was shown in the Apostle Paul. I think this is a case with her sister Joni Erickson. In her weakness God's power is being made perfect. And her weakness God is displaying His strength.

Simply my thoughts bro.

Bear-

Please note that I did not say it was always God's will to heal someone.

What I said was that when I am praying for healing I ASSUME that it is.

There is a huge difference. If I thought for one second that it was NOT God's will, then how could I pray with any measure of faith?

The fact is that when it comes to individual cases we cannot be 100% sure what Gods will is. I will go even a perhaps controversial step further- I believe that prayer can change or bend Gods will. If I did not believe that I would see no purpose in praying that type of prayer.

I understand that there is prayer to commune with the Father. But there is also prayer that must be aggressive, and God wants us to pray that way.

Brother Franklin,
I'm thankful for this word you shared!

Brother Todd,
Yeah I see it as a default position as well-

Brother Blaine,
This has been an area of interest and study of mine for a lil while now (mainly because so many sick believers around) and honestly I have more questions than answers at this point... But I think we should be careful about interpreting the scriptures based on experience or in the sisters case you mentioned, lack of experience.

I've never found a verse where God didn't heal someone... tho the "thorn" scripture could be read that way, I find in context that to be an arbitrary reading of the text.

I mean the same word that declares the blood of Jesus will cleanse us also clearly states (in equally matter of fact verbiage) that believers are immune to deadly poisons as well as poisonous snakes.... Yet as you kno in the south every spring pollen kicks the crap out of most people wether they believe on Christ or not... This seems (to me) not so much of an issue of faith but of belief,... As I understand it, belief precedes faith and people act in faith in regard to that which they believe. So if a person doesn't believe that their salvation includes a particular thing then (as I understand) they will not act in faith and thereby partake of His divine portion in this area tho in other areas they may be light years ahead of others...

I hope you do not take offense to this as its more of an inquiry as to what you make of verses as mentioned above than it is a dogmatic statement-

Edited to correct name..

Healing is of great interest to me, as l have been sick since five months of age with a damaged immune and endocrine system due to mercury poisoning. I have studied the scriptures intensively on healing.

Today, we are much more fortunate than they were in NT times, having access to a great variety in season and out with enough to buy the things necessary for health.

In those times past, they were much more restricted in what was available. However, men today eat false foods from packets that contain harmful ingredients which are grown, if they originate from real food and not just chemicals, such as pesticide which God never intended our bodies to consume.

Most sickness especially diabetes are due to wrong food choices and can be reversed by eating food from the field, which is the way man was supposed to eat. Many peopke are doing this and reversing their cancers.

The food, medical and pharmaceutical industry make a lot of money from bad food so the truth is hidden.

For a lot of people, it is entirely in their hands whether they are healed or not. Of course this excludes accidents and some genetic conditions even there, epigenetics has proven that faulty genes can be switched off through adequate proper nutrition.

God is actually healing me from environmental illness and Lyme disease, guiding me step by step using natural means and particularly with a low carb diet. In five months l have cured quite a number of things like diabetes, sleep apnea, peripheral neuropathy, hypothyroidism etc and all without medications which only cover symptoms and do not get to the root cause. In fact they cause new illnesses and call them side effects.

A believer who has trouble eating according to God's laws and in excess, has serious spiritual problems that require attention so that they do care for their bodies properly.

Quote: "The food, medical and pharmaceutical industry make a lot of money from bad food so the truth is hidden."

I think it is a huge stretch to say the truth is hidden. There is a plethora of information readily available about whole food eating, mediterranean diets, paleo etc. In fact I would say there is a glut of this information, and other health information, everywhere.

No, the problem is that the vast majority of people do not have "health integrity" meaning they refuse to take responsibility for their own health and instead make excuses- or they are just plain lazy, or just don't care. They are not honest with themselves- instead they pass blame. It is not hard to eat properly but a person must want to do so. Most do not because they like their Doritos. I am breaking free from a lot of that stuff but admittedly it is difficult because it does take some discipline.

But I do not think it is fair to blame drug companies and the medical industry. We need to look no further than the mirror for the correct person to blame.

Brethren respectfully I do not see in the scripture that God promises physical healing for everyone. Of course the ultimate physical healing will be when believers are taken home to be with the Lord.

The primary mission of Jesus was to come to heal our souls. The mission of Jesus was to come to the cross to save us from our sins. It was our sins that made a separation between man and God. The cross provided redemption for us to be saved through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ.

The healings that Jesus did was to authenticate his gospel message. The first part of Hebrews 2 tell us that God testify to the gospel message by various signs and wonders. We do not see in the scriptures that Jesus healed everyone. Otherwise in John 5 he would have healed everyone at the pool of Bethesda. But he healed only one person.

And then there's a case of the Apostle Paul. Yes all through his missionary Journeys Paul healed people. There's no denying this. Yet in Philippians 2 receive that Epaphrodites almost died from an illness. Yet because of the mercy of God he survived. For some reason Paul could not heal him.

In 2 Timothy 4:20 Paul says Trophimus I left sick at Meletus. Also in the same epistle Paul tells Timothy to take a little wine for the sake of his frequent illnesses.

If you're going to develop at the theology that says God wants to heal everybody than the above verses. Will have to be taken into consideration. Brethren your back and your self into a corner when you come up with that theology to say that God wants to heal everybody. In which case how are you going to explain the above verses regarding the Apostle Paul?

Again I I'm all for praying for someone's physical healing. But I pray for their healing with faith. Leaving the outcome into the hands of a loving God. This is a case of one of my intercessors on Persecution Watch is battling cancer.

Brethren respectfully posted with no argument intended. But only two reason from the word of God.

Again simply my thoughts. Hopefully my thoughts as extrapolated from scripture.

T
TMK May 26, 2016

Again Bear, I am not saying that healings are guaranteed or always happen. That is obviously not true.

The friend you mentioned with cancer- how can you pray with faith for healing if you believe it may be God's will not to heal him? No disrespect intended at all.

If we pray "please heal so and so **if it be your will** then why pray at all? God always does his will, right?

But maybe, just maybe, he is waiting for an aggressive prayer of faith that insists an illness leave a person's body as opposed to just asking God to heal if it be his will?

Let me give an example from scripture. The first is the actual prayer from Nehemiah 1:

"O Master, listen to me, listen to your servant’s prayer””and yes, to all your servants who delight in honoring you””and make me successful today so that I get what I want from the king."

Here’s a modified version of Nehemiah’s prayer as a contrast:

"Lord, if you feel like it, would you mind listening to my prayer? And by the way, other non-deserving people like me would like you to listen to their prayer also, if it’s not too much trouble. Today I was thinking about making a request of the king, but I’m not sure if You really want me to so, oh well, if he doesn’t grant my request, I guess that’s okay. Amen."

Which prayer is God more likely to listen to? Which prayer evidences the faith of the person praying?

A sk and it will be given to you
S eek and you will find
K nock and the door will be opened to you (Mt. 7:7)

Notice the progression... ask, then seek, and if necessary pound on the door. If we expect God to guide us in fulfilling the mission he has given us, it’s going to take boldness in prayer.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO GET AGGRESSIVE

J
JFW May 26, 2016

Brother Todd,

You have articulated my understanding very well:)
Better than I could've-

The parable of the persistent widow comes to mind (Luke 18) as I read your words;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Not just aggressive but also persistent;)

The passages posted by PP raise two questions:

1) Since Jesus healed all, was it also God's will (rhetorical question)
2) is it still God's will today or was the healing ministry of Jesus for that season only.

A related question: Would Jesus be disappointed in the lack of miraculous, legitimate healings in evidence today?

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jesus was even limited in His own day with whom and where He could perform miracles

Mark ch 6 v 5 : And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Acts ch 3 v 2 : And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Acts 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

Acts ch 5:14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) 15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. 16There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

Acts 6:8
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Acts 8:6
And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

Acts 14:7 And there they preached the gospel. 8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: 9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, 10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

Acts 15:12
Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

Acts 19:11
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:

Acts 28:5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. 6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god. 7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously. 8And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. 9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
