So a friend of mine here in the church in Minnesota recently had the opportunity to pray for a man who had terminal cancer and was very near passing on. His passing on was all but a done thing. The man's family somehow through a set of circumstances had been in contact with my friend and they thought he might come by and perhaps be of some assistance. The sick man had the reputation of being somewhat of a contrary man who had never done business with the Lord as we all know one should. He could not talk and could only communicate by a squeeze of his near death hand. So my friend got to the bedside and witnessed to the man and asked him if he wanted to repent and ask Christ for forgiveness. Tears rolled down the man's face and he indicated he wanted to by squeezing my friend's hand. So on this bed of death he asked God and Christ for forgiveness. My friend left wondering along the lines of well maybe he really meant it and maybe he understood what was transacting. Well THE VERY NEXT DAY he got a call from the family who said the man was awake and talking and wanting something to eat. This is the absolute way it happened and none of this is embellished. He had begun before to refuse all medication and food and water so as not to prolong his painful time here any longer. He was even up and about a bit and was hungry for food. Since then he has gotten hold of a Bible and is studying it and told the family for as long as the Lord will allow him to stay here that he is going to follow Christ. He has even witnessed to the 96 year old grandmother of the family and she is said to be taken back because he was as near going as could be but now is up and about and witnessing to her about Christ. The family is said to be admitting they have seen something extraordinary that isn't the normal set of circumstances one sees in this life. This is a very recent set of events. No embellishment or polishing up the story here. Ha! The man has even bought a fishing license and wants to fish a bit.
The brother who witnessed to and prayed with this man is a trustworthy brother who would never make anything like this up.
Praise the Lord for the SPIRIT OF LIFE in Christ Jesus! What else could have done this for this man but this LIFE.
