BURLINGTON ”” Evangelist C.T. Townsend asked members of the congregation to open their Bibles ”” the precursor to a sermon in most churches ”” but no message ever came.
Later, Townsend admitted that he had been struggling all day with what he should preach.
He finally told the perhaps thousands of people gathered under a circuslike tent Wednesday evening that he struggled because he was supposed to ask them a question instead: Are you satisfied, or are you wanting more from God?
In answer, they flocked to the altar, which in this case was a stage set up under a tent that occupied an open field. They came alone, as couples holding hands and as families who held and hugged each other in tears while kneeling.
"Don’t be worried to get a little sawdust on your knees,” Townsend said. "It’ll wash off.”
Nine weeks. That’s how long what has become known as the Burlington Revival has been going on, as church congregations and people from across the country have heard about it, either through word-of-mouth or on the internet, where the services stream live nightly. During that time, leaders of the revival say that more than 600 people have been saved, the Christian repentance of sin and acceptance of Jesus as their savior.
Townsend aimed to increase that number Wednesday as he encouraged those still seated in the crowd to come forward, telling them it is what God wants.

It was awe-inspiring to see God at work last night in the meeting in Burlington. Let's keep asking ask for more!
Evangelist C.T. Townsend announced the meetings will start back up Monday, July 18th, and continue each night that week through Friday, July 22nd. He asks for continued prayer and fasting for God to send revival to this generation!
I'm stunned. I thought this was over last night. I found this post yesterday and had absolutely no idea that this was going on right up the road from me! Then I followed some links y'all provided and saw that it was ending last night.(Friday) I said to Jesus "wow, why didn't you let me know till now? It ends tonight and I wish I could of gone; I've never seen anything like that before. God was there and you were there and I could of seen a bunch of miracles. You know how I love miracles!" Well, dern I thought, I guess it wasn't for me to go. Then just now I found out they're startin up again Monday! Burlington is only about 20 miles down the road from me! So I'm gonna go. I may take a test run tomorrow to see where it is, where I can park, what time will God get there. Stuff, you know. I want yall to pray for me that I won't have any problems coming or going, my car runs ok & the new water pump holds out. I can't see much to drive at night so pray for Jesus to give me perfect vision. I've got 3/4 tank of gas and about $18-20 dollars. Pray that that'll be enough. OK brothers and sisters..I'm goin to a revival! I'll report back. Thank you all. Yall and Jesus are the best thing that ever happened to me!

Just to be clear, it's not starting up this Monday, but in two Mondays from now. Maybe you already knew that, just wanted to make sure! :) If you get on the facebook page for Burlington Revival you can see updates there. No need to worry about parking; sounds like they have a very helpful set-up involving shuttles that will take you to and from where your car is parked. Again, check the facebook page...that's where I got this info. :)
