Why did the gov of Russia..

I am curious - why did the gov of Russia pass a law restricting evangelizing? or the discussion of religious thought/Bible?

After glosnast the doors were opened for evangelizing and many went, even cults you wished that would have stayed home.

What interest does their gov have in the religious belief of its people? Is it to restrict Islam?

A few years ago Mexican Mennonites were interested in returning to the land from which their fathers emigrated from - which was Russia. They made some exploratory trips there to check it out but as far as I know that idea has been abandoned.

Still, what is the motivation? Anybody know?

Sandra even when the window opened in Russia, missionaries realized it was a brief window of opportunity. I think the miracle is it remained open for about 20 years. I think what we're seeing is the closing of the window by Satan. And what Russia is doing is simply what the rest of the world will soon too. And that is moving to a hatred of those who follow Christ.

Simply my thoughts dear sister.

I heard the same from other sources. God would open up Russia in a way it had never experienced for a short period of time.
