I attended the Faith Mission conference in Edinburgh six years ago, and spoke to Mary Peckham's daughter. Colin Pelham was Principal of the Mission for a number of years, after Duncan Campbell. At one time, no young person would be accepted for missionary training unless they had a strong testimony of entire sanctification as in Holiness doctrine, which is what the Hebrides revival, and all true revivals are about. New converts are a part of a revival, but not the main issue, which is the REvival of God's people.
Sadly the daughter did not understand what the doctrine was about nor it seems did her mother put an emphasis on it when she spoke on the video. I wonder whether the Peckhams eventually gave way to the opposition that developed in the 1960's when the Charismatic movement was growing fast in Britain and entire sanctification died a death.
That was awesome!
It is enough for me to fellowship with other believers around the Name of Jesus, to marvel at what the Lord did back then and to seek the same in my life today.
Perhaps at some point in eternity, when there's a break in worship, we might blush about our petty doctrines and how we made such an unnecessary fuss about them.
Until then, let us worship the Lamb of God who alone is worthy of all praise....
