Liena's Prayer

sermonindex Aug 31, 2016

Brothers and sisters what does it mean to be a Christian in a persecuted nation? What does it mean to be a Christian where to follow Jesus marks you for death? What does it mean to lay everything down because Jesus is worth it?

The following short 6-minute video from VOM is based on a true story of a family that had to work through these questions in the middle of the Syrian civil war. This family had been offered refuge in Europe. This family had been offered financial aid to care for them if they would have left Syria.

I invite you to watch this video. But I exhort you to please pray before you do so. For everything you hear you will be responsible for. Because you will have to ask the hard questions this sister had to ask. The sister had to ask the Lord what will you have me do to be a witness for you?

Please pray before you watch the video. If you do not have the faith to ask those questions. Then please do not watch this video. If you're willing to ask those questions that Liena had to ask. Then do watch the video.

These are the questions our brothers and sisters are facing daily on the front lines. Are we willing to face those same questions in our lives in the days and weeks and months to come?

Please be advised the video does reenact graphic images.

Wow, brother...this morning the Lord brought Lienas prayer to my thoughts. When I saw you posted this, I gasped. This is indeed a very powerful testimony of laying everything down for Jesus. I almost shared this video clip, and I should have obeyed....so the Lord had you share it.

Dear sister it makes no difference who shared the video clip. The thing is it was shared. We are just yielded vessels before Him. I just feel that the video is sharing that same message that the Insanity of God movie is sharing. Is Jesus worth it?

Just as Nick and Ruth had to work through those questions. And as the persecuted have to work through those questions. Liena and Samar had to work through those questions. And we will have to work through those questions.

Liena and Samar had to ask what must I do to be a witness for you Lord Jesus? Nick and Ruth had to ask the question is Jesus worth it? So we too must ask those questions of ourselves.

Remember what Nik Ripken said in the movie. There is no such thing as a persecuted church and a free Church. There is "the church". We are "the church". That's what our persecuted brothers and sisters and those that work with them are asking. We have to ask the same questions of ourselves.

Dear sister appreciate your heart. You and people like Jeff are truly touched by those who carry the cross. Because we ultimately find ourselves at the foot of His cross.

Sherri, my sister, much blessing be to you and your husband.

Just watched this video again. Is this what it means to be a Christian in Syria? Or is this what it means to be a Christian?
