To Grind in the Mill House of our Mind

This morning as I was walking and talking with the Lord I pondered how the mind works. In my mind’s eye I saw one who was utterly exhausted in their mind. The wheels and the machinations of the heart were in constant motion with worrying and anxiety and stress. It seemed to be like the slaves of old who were attached to grind stones in the flour mills of their enemies. Where all day long they would walk in a circle pushing a beam which would in turn move cogs and pulleys and thus move the enormous mill stones and grind the wheat into flour. Each pulley, each cog representing stress and anxiety and worry. The slave himself generating his own anxiety and worry by virtue of being attached to the beam and compelled to push in a never-ending servitude.

Then I saw the same flour mill, only this time it was beside a river and a wheel had been set. The water turned the wheel and the wheel powered the cogs and the pulleys and this in turn caused the great mill stone to turn without any human effort. In each case flour was produced, yet in one case there was a slave and in the other case there was no need for slavery.

Now many may say that anxiety and worry and stress and fear is caused by the enemy or our circumstances, yet Jesus commands us to be "anxious for nothing.” Why would the Lord command us to do something that was not in our power to do? In fact He has commanded us to do something that is very much within our grasp, He has commanded us to choose. The Lord has called His children to freedom. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the Holy place where the most high dwells (Psalm 46:4) To dwell beside the river of God is to be nourished by God Himself. Those who have the river of God flowing through them, those to whom God pours into them living waters, it is those who are like evergreen trees who continually produce fruit in season and out of season. They are like ever green trees in the garden of the Lord and they walk in a peace that surpasses understanding.

Now brothers and sisters. Can you say you are like an evergreen tree set by the river of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to run and not grow weary? Or perhaps you have allowed yourself to become attached to the beam and have become enslaved to the grind of this world? God knows how to feed His children, God has called His children to freedom. He has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love and of power and of a sound mind. Today He is calling you to peace.......bro Frank

Hi Brenda. No, sorry, I cannot give instructions. What I can do is point to the Lord and His Word. The Lord commanded us to be anxious for nothing and herein lies the key to a peace that surpasses understanding. Obedience, surrender, confession. In every single situation in life we can make the choice of the will. We can choose to be blessed in it or we can give way to the competing forces that demand out attention.

The will, in my opinion, is the key. The will controls the emotions. Yet so often in life we allow the emotion to control the will. First, as an act of the will we must obey, and that obedience flows from surrender. Lets say we have a situation in our life that causes fear. Fear is an emotion. There is some good fear, but mostly fear is a weapon of the enemy used to enslave the world. Fear will come knocking at the door of the saint and this, like temptation, is not sin. Yet, if we give way to fear we enter the realm of sin.

For fear is a lack of faith, a lack of trust in God and in my opinion is one of the greatest enemies of the saint. Now please, if you are reading this, I dont want this information to ensnare you or cause you condemnation, that is the work of the enemy. What I would love to see is saints released from the bondage of fear and for that to happen we must recognize it for what it is, it is sin. Once we recognize the sin of not trusting God and the pain it causes our heavenly Father, then we have our path way to victory for no true saint wants to displease his or her Lord.

Fear is a mouse behind the door with a megaphone. It elevates itself out of all proportion, even, say something like the fear of death. Think right now the situation or situations that cause you to give into fear and be in bondage to it. How does your situation compare to the Living God? Is there anything too difficult for God? Once we begin to lift our eyes heavenward we have taken our eyes off the situation and have focused them on our mighty God. What happened when Peter did this in the midst of a great storm? He was miraculously elevated above the dire circumstances. What storm do you face today saint? The same Jesus that elevated Peter above the storm will elevate you. The storm may still rage around you, but when you keep your eyes upon the Lord you shall not sink. remember, the same Lord can also speak to that storm and command it to be still. Let us be still this day and see the glory of our Lord. In the flesh we shall cry out, in the Spirit we shall be more than conquerers. May the Lord bless all this day who have struggled with fear and who have been in bondage to it. Remember saints, the Lord came to set the captive free and He whom the Son sets free is free indeed.............bro Frank

I spent many years searching for the answer to the question I posed, and found many who said how we SHOULD be but were unable to say HOW to get there. Not blaming you brother or putting you down, Your writings are a great help to others.

My will power failed me and caused much consternation.

But we need to know the HOW and we can only get that from those who have actually got there and surrendered entirely.

Charles Finney is an example of someone who knows how to get there and basically says:

We are to remove from our lives everything that is not in God's will. This is what repentance means.

We are to say sorry to those whom we have hurt or harmed and make amends.

We are to ask Him to search us and to confess our sins to each other.

We are to know that we cannot do it on our own and must wait for the fire to fall meanwhile renouncing all that is not in God's will.

I would also add that we could read about the saints of old who preached entire sanctification like Finney to balance the errors today, that it is a gradual process and we can never be perfect.

Dear sister, I am afraid you have missed the whole point entirely. God bless you, only the Lord can open our eyes on this subject, I pray that He opens your eyes and draws you away from a subject that seems to have ensnared you. We are not called to walk in fear and I testify that I do not walk in fear. I once feared everything until the Lord showed me the way of escape.

This phrase right there shows me why you missed the point entirely. My will has no power in relation to God. My will is something that simply must surrender to God's will. So if God tells me not to be anxious or He tells me that worry is as futile as trying to add one cubit to my height then I must trust and obey for as the old song goes, there is no other way. This is how we overcome, nothing to do with perfection, which quite honestly sister you seem to have somewhat of an obsession with, but we are certainly called to victory in our lives. There is a peace to be had and we are called to walk in it. Perhaps one should consider the lilies of the field Brenda. You had said that first, as a matter of the will we must obey. This is what l heard, but no matter how much l willed, l could not stop the lack of faith and fear. These things are resolved after one has entered into His rest not the way to get into it.

Yes l am obsessed with perfection as it is the only state where one is right with the Lord unless one is seeking it and believing it possible. The writers of old knew this but today, no.

I did enter in and therefore can guide others and it is not an improved place but a place of completion. I believe that you brother can encourage others by your advance in spirituality but to reach that sweet spot of perfect place, it is necessary to cast aside all effort in the flesh.

Yes we must not get into a debate but hopefully you will one day desire to help people to enter into complete rest.

Brother it was not meant to be passive/aggressive. You said yourself that you cannot give instructions on how to enter in. Your words. But agreed, we will not be able to have a useful conversation. I love you still.
