I listerned to the tape by Bill McLeod and definitely came away edified. I can recommend it.
No one can walk in humility perfectly of course but is trying to walk in and embracing humility a form of spiritual warfare in itself? We usually think of warfare as actively fighting and binding and loosing etc. and so it is but from what posture are we reminded to put on first?
6 But he gives more grace. Wherefore he says, God resists the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resis the devil, and he will flee from you. (Jsames 4:6-7)
8 Draw nigh to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (James 4:6-7)
If our hands are clean and our hearts pure and we have drawn near to God in humility do we even have to speak to the devil? Can resisitng the devil be just drawing near to God in humility? Can the devil even touch the humility of Christ? It's the antithesis of what he is and what he walks in. God cast him out and resists him because of his pride. If we have relinquished our pride we have automatically struck a hammer blow agaisnt the enemy. The posture of humility is the hammer blow. Am I making sense here? The loveliness of Christ is unsurpassed and the devil hates it along with the world yet Christ obtained all of His magnificent victory from a lowly posture of humility. We were rescued from death and sin and the devil by humility and not self exaltation.
Is humiltiy a form of spiritual warfare itself?
