Yes! It was subjected to decay...you know...wrinkles, odor, fat, etc.,etc.

Their bodies also transitioned from being a vehicle created to be a servant that was subordinate to the spirit within to being a highly energized vehicle that insatiably demanded sensual gratification.

THIS PARTICULAR MYTH...whereby we derive "intelligent-sounding" insult phraseology (which I, too, just fell for in my verbose display of using a stupid term like "phraseology"...ha!)...Ahem...as I was saying, when we say derogatory stuff like, "Oh, his [insert act of depravity here] is an expression of his "reptilian" nature...or rather, "eww, that's so reptilian!"...as opposed to "that's so Raven" (for the GENXers)...

This conflict is (also) the basis of the universal game for soul evolution known as "The Polarity Integration Game" (the game of integrating Light and Dark polarities)...also the pishposh convictions many people expound upon when "high"...(you shouldn't ask me how I know this)...
Great query...I love your imagination and your refusal to be content with the "surface" effects of The Fall...it changed us in more ways than one can "imagine"...

Animals don't sin so I would say the flesh itself did not become sinful because the flesh is not what makes us human; however the flesh and spirit/soul is so entwined that the flesh suffered the effects of sin, both in the sense of deterioration and response to stimuli (e.g.lust and other physiological responses)

The phrase "sinful nature" is not in the Scriptures.
I am not convinced that the Bible teaches that the flesh is sinful in and of it's self , It seems from my research to be an idea that Augustine came up with in trying to understand his own sinfulness.

"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” (KJV)
My question:
So, when and how does the baby subsequently acquire this carnal mind?
The heart of a baby is evil with a limitless wickedness. The new birth is neccasary for this very reason, nothing else would or could ever work.
Preach this and the churches persecution in the west will be in full force within 24 hours. Guaranteed.

I believe :
The infant does not yet have an understanding of right from wrong.
We often refer to it as not yet attaing an age or state of accountability
the Bible says it this way : "persons who do not know their right hand from their left"
The definition of sin according to Scripture is : " the transgression of the law."
The infant is born pure and innocent in the fact that they are born without : "guilt"
That is both obvious as well as Scriptural
They have not transgressed any law because as an infant they have no law.
"where no law is, there is no transgression."
Paul said it this way in Romans 7:9 For I was alive (as an infant) without the law once (before understanding right from wrong): but when the commandment came (understanding law), sin revived, (from the previous generation to the next ) and I died( in Adam all die)

Having said that, I also believe that what men do : defines whom they are.

I TOTALLY agree, marcmc. Saint Augustine lamented with genuine guilt over memories of affording himself to neo-natal sinfulness and infantile petitioning of his mother (via screaming his head off) for her to meet demands that far surpassed his basic needs (and he actually believes it was deliberate and calculating at SUCH an early stage of development)...his "Confessions" are THAT comical at times (...Saint Augustine, though, he, too is is heaven in spite of being a repentant "pear thief")!
...hence, before we even know our left hand from our right, we, instinctively, know how to aggressively and violently "scream our heads off" in supplication from a person who has not even yet recovered from the labor and invasion we have inflicted upon her body, mind and soul...

THAT, I don't agree with because it HAS been preached (See "The Confessions" of Saint Augustine AND Sigmund Freud)...
