Celebrating the Lord's Choice

God rules the kingdoms of men and gives them to whom He will. Daniel 4:17.

Contrary to human belief, there is One -- and only One -- chooser of the governors of Earth. He has no link to the American principle of "one man, one vote". It isn't His principle.

When Judah was taken into Babylonian captivity and exile, God chose their ruler from Iraq. He chose Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel 5:18. God told His people that, while in captivity, to make a life that honored Him. Jeremiah 29:4-9. In the end of His work, He will make sure to bring to pass what His purposes have always been. Jer. 29:5-11.

All human rule is evil. It bears the mark of Adam. It bears the rebellion of 1 Samuel 8. The kingdoms of this world will become the kingdom of God and His Christ. Count on it.

In the certainty of the failure of American government, the finishing of its constitutional existence, and in the uncertainty of the times to come, we must hold on to Jesus the King of Kings. He is the Kingmaker, so to speak.

We should pray for the peace of our corrupt earthly governors, and their peacefulness to us. We should work and make life while it is in our ability to do so. We should not give up so that the Lord may rescue us, but get up and live fully as unto Jesus so that the Lord may sustain us in the eschaton that now is.

Do not be discouraged at the D's and R's of Americanism. Our hope lies in the Alpha and Omega of all creation. Let's be sure of Him and in Him. The system that is will meet its end soon enough without our approval or disapproval. Let's find our peace in His power, rule and authority now.
