we are each judged according to the revelation we have been given. you don't punish someone for something they did not know was wrong to do. but as previously (and correctly) pointed out, we all have what is theologically called "natural law" or "natural revelation" (i.e. Psalm 19) the Lord is just and righteous in His judgement.
