A strange encounter with a group offering free Bible course

I just want to have an inquiry if you know about this group.

Just last few weeks we met a group offering free Bible / Theology course. Aside from free, the instructress said that the only resource they use is the Bible, no other books. With this I got more interested.

On our first meeting, the instructress taught that salvation is by knowing the truth / God, not just by faith alone and she cite some Bible verses. At this point, there is a caution in my spirit though I did not express it to anyone that day. She did not say "works" to be saved but faith is somewhat devalued.

On the supposed second day, i did not go because my fiance who is also with me express her concern that it seems she is hiding information about herself / her church. Her parents have also heard from a pastor that the group is a "cult".

So on the next meeting, we purpose to ask question about salvation, the Gospel and thier view on the Godhead. Our instructor then is trainee, when we ask a question she said that personally she believes in the Trinity but said that the school caters other religions too. And just refer us to the senior-the first one we meet.

Again she emphasises knowing the truth to be save, as though salvation is not an instantanous event.

Then she persuade us to continue, citing from Hebrews on leaving the elementary teachings to eat solid food. Most of what she said was logical and biblical.

But what made me leave is the gospel is not emphasized. I directly then express that we will no longer continue.

She still continue on persuade us by making us feel that our knowledge is not enough. Just like her before, as most Christians do.

She said that "God loves the Philippines". So I have a clue that this is new here but came abroad which she also have said.

She is a former baptist I think and just a friend introduce this to her.

I also notice that they use NIV version of the Bible. I think this is a New Age movement but what baffles me is the only resource they use is the Bible.

Brother,

Unless they have a website or direct information of their larger organisation, I would not attend as it can be much time and energy to find out something disappointing as you already have. Cults can seem very christian but be deviant in certain areas. Whey they do not disclose things but tell you that you can speak to senior leaders about very basic christian doctrines like the trinity that is a warning sign.

Brother,
just some thoughts from my spirit..

Our instructor then is trainee, when we ask a question she said that personally she believes in the Trinity but said that the school caters other religions too.

We must remember that JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY AND THE ONLY TRUTH.. JOHN 14:6
THERE ARE NO OTHER RELIGIONS..
Anything added or taken from the word of GOD GEN to rev is a cult.. REad the Martins book of cults it is a good read and reference.
WE HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS.. RELIGION KILLS PEOPLE.
They also should be accountable to someone and u should know their tenements of Faith.
In Christ
Frannie
