Being Content

Oh that is some strong words.Being content come what may.Wouldn't that be the ideal life?Can we experience that in our lives?Well the apostle Paul said he did and he also said he had learned it.This was a process over time with him that he had learned through his experiences and circumstances to be content.

"Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content."(Philippians 4:11)

How could life's blows ever bother a person living with that attitude.Come what may and be content.This wasn't natural,for Paul said that he had learned to be content.His eyes was focused on His Savior and not on the events in his life.It seemed that Satan had thrown everything that he could at Paul.But Paul knew where his hope was and it wasn't in the events of this life that tried to keep him beat down.He had views of the greater picture and God's purpose for his life and how the circumstances that God was permitting in his life was molding him into the image of God's Son.
Sometimes life just isn't fair.Some days our journey is on mountain tops and other days it leads us in the valleys.
In my life it seems that God just doesn't like working on level ground,even though I try to keep the landscape level,I still have the mountain top days and the valley days.

We aren't promised a life of happiness and riches no matter what the false teaching of the prosperity gospel might lead some to believe.The Christian life will most likely be just the opposite.We can have the joy and the peace through sorrow because of who we are in Christ and the hope we have in Him that can't be touched by circumstances.
We need to learn as Paul did,to look through our circumstances and keep our eyes focused on Jesus and remember our hope isn't in this world system and all it offers good or bad.Our hope is in Christ and our hope is Christ.Our hope is not a wish but a fact and I believe it will be realized very soon when He comes in the air for His Church and just maybe today.
