Last Monday night the pastor here asked me to drop into a class he and his wife teach from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. They teach young people there and I would say the young people there were from about six to nine years of age. Pastor wanted me to share a little regarding my recent trip to Israel of which he was a part and I did so and it worked well. I was impressed with the Bible drills and lessons etc. the young people were participating in. During a time when the pastor's wife was talking to these young people the pastor and I sat on the side of the class. I happened to sit down by a pile of sheets that the children had filled out. There were questions on it regarding the lessons etc. and I was impressed by the answeres some had written on these test sheets. One question in particular caught my attention. The question went something like,
"Name a time when you needed the Lord and He helped you."
In particular, I remember three answers to this question.
Q. Name a time when you needed the Lord and He helped you.
A. One time I was lost in a store and the Lord helped me to get found.
Another one said,
Q. Name a time when you needed the Lord and He helped you.
A. One time my cat was up in a tree and couldn't get down. I was worried about my cat and the Lord helped me. Some men came and helped my cat get down and my cat was all right. The Lord helped my cat.
Another question and answer,
Q. Name a time when you needed the Lord and He helped you.
A. Grandpa had a growth thing on his hip and the doctors said it didn't look good. But we prayed and the Lord healed him all up. (They used the words "healed him all up").
I was showing them to the pastor as I read them and we were laughing a bit but laughing at the blessedness of these real and true expressions of faith coming from these little ones. What better place to begin learning about faith than during one's early years? These remembrances of faith by these youngsteres were just as real to me as I read them as any situtation or event in which I need faith today. These were not little expressions of faith to me. Amen I said as I read them. PTL!
Suffer the little children to come unto Me.
Unless you have the faith of a little child you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Out of the moth of babes and sucklings you have perfected praise.
God is good to young and old.
