Feed The Flock! Do We Even Know How Any More?

"Feed the flock of God which has been purchased by His own blood" (Ac 20:28).
Imagine setting a toddler in a highchair & giving him or her a bowl and a spoon, and then commence giving a speech on the dangers of standing in their highchair. Imagine doing this every day. No food. Just a bowl, a spoon and a speech. Not only would this child be disappointed, it's body would become mounurished and eventually die.
Imagine a minister doing this every Sunday to his flock. No food, just continual sermons on the dangers and deceptions of our time and scolding speeches. This would be a tragedy.
Feeding the sheep & warning them of the wolf are two very different things. Both have their place, but we cannot confuse the two. One will grow the sheep. The other will not.
"Feed the flock of God" (Ac 20:28). Do we even know how to do this any more? We are often so consumed with correct doctrine, genuine revival and false spirits...many have forgotten how to encourage and nourish. God help us to once again learn how to feed the flock that's been purchased by Christ's very own blood.

Excellent point! I have known very few leaders who seemed to realize that their job as pastors involved getting to know the hearts of their flock and ministering to them in a deep level. Preaching and religious protocol seems to be the supposed responsibility which they are assigned to. I and my wife know we are called of God to mentor believers and we do the same as unordained laypeople but we would be delighted to have the pastors join us in the work. We are greatly blessed in serving God this way but are disappointed that leaders seem comfortable in keeping a professional distance from people's hearts.

I lead a little flock here in a remote part of Germany. I bring teaching as I feel the Lord leads, but some feed on the word and other don't really feed on the Word of God. I find it very difficult to see when sheep (Christians) don't really feed on the word of God.

There are different Kinds of people that we minister to. I agree that there is a lack of hunger in many churches. It's very sad.

I enjoyed to read this post in that we need to teach and equip God's people and not always speak of what is bad or missing. Simple bible teaching verse by verse is needed also scripture readings and saints personally reading through the entire bible yearly. God's people need to be equipped.

Scripture even says: "fully equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3v17b
Here are the complete verses: "From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work."

Imo we spend far too much time discussing and debating doctrines, all sorts of -ism , also end time stuff etc. topics which don't really advance God's Kingdom.

Luke wrote: Acts 28v30 Paul stayed there two full years in his own rented house, welcoming all who came to visit him. 31Boldly and freely he proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul welcomed ALL, he focused on the Kingdom of God and proclaimed it to all who came to him.
