When you feel discouraged...

T

It's Thursday night and I'm sitting before my laptop, scrolling down on facebook... looking what's going on in the life of those around me. Some boast of partys, others of achievements and others of great places they have visited. And I am thinking...

The apathy around us is just striking...

People don't care... or they seem not to care about God, about Christ. And 'church' means just tradition, culture... As if they are just saying "We don't need God. Look at my life! The system runs well, we work hard, earn money, we have wonderful time..." Some are angry at Him, others ignore Him, but who seeks Him?

I can hardly describe what I felt, while I was thus thinking about the way life goes usually without God, people being proud of that. But after a while one verse came to me:

"Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long." (Proverbs 23:17) And when I found the verse, I decided to read the next verse also... "For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off."

You know, I did not think that saying was continuied in v. 18. In other translations it says: "For surely there is future and your hope shall not be cut off". Amen! What is my hope if not to see Christ and live with Him forever?!

This morning couple of verses came to my mind:

"If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children." Psalm 73

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 15

I want just to encourage you with that! Even if it seems that all people ignore God and ignore everything connected with Christianity, holiness, righteousness and sound doctrine... don't give up! God is watching you! He takes notice and as they sing in a Chinise song "Your love has inspired us to live on!"

"Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it" Song of Songs 8

God bless you!

It may be lonely, and it may be discouraging, and even depressing at times...but...I'm reminded not only of the Word of God you posted, but another quote I recently read;

"Better to walk alone, then with the crowd in the Wrong direction."

Thanks for posting this!

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and make your hearts pure, you who are half-hearted towards God. Afflict yourselves and mourn and weep aloud; let your laughter be turned into grief, and your gladness into shame. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you. James 4:8-10

Matthew 24:12King James Version (KJV)

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Im sensing that this is what is happening today.
My circle is getting smaller but that is ok.
.. if this makes sense i hope so but.. for me If I get discouraged I know I am focusing on my circumstances. I have learned when I get discouraged I can encourage myself as u put being steadfast..
If I cannot encourage myself I then call a sister to pray off any discouragement.. just some thoughts..
Sister Frannie

Thank you all! Sister Frannie, I also sometimes call other brethren, but as this is not always possible... my strategy is just prayer! You know... I believe there are others who are praying for us. We may not know them but I am sure that God cares for us also in that way. And above all Christ Jesus prays for us!

Isn't that wonderful?!

"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry." Hebrews 10:35-37

God bless you!

You are not alone. Satan is trying to destroy the church. He doesn't know what to do with those who truly believe. He has driven you out of the houses he controls. Greater is he in you than he that is in the world. You are God's possession and he has plans for you in the Kingdom.

You are still chatting with believers here. We listen to each other and pray for one another.
