Being eaten alive

sermonindex Mar 22, 2017

I think one of the worse fears that human beings have, and it is a primal thing, is to be eaten alive. It is really why we have this "fight or flight," reaction that is programmed into our DNA. The chances of the average human being today being eaten alive is almost zero but we still have our fight or flight protection built into who we are.

Now there is a spiritual equivalent to being eaten alive. It is very possible that we have someone in our lives who have the capacity to tear at our souls and eat us alive from the inside out. This is a great danger and takes the wisdom and strength of God Himself through the power of the Holy Spirit to deal with. If you are dealing with that today. If there is someone in your life that is ripping away at your very soul and the essence of who you are then my prayer for you today is to take up the shield of faith.

This shield is more real than any human shield that has been used in warfare for centuries. This is a shield that exists in the Kingdom of God in which we walk. And if we use it, if we pick it up, it will protect us from the fiery darts of an enemy who, if allowed, will tear your heart to pieces. The enemy uses people as arrows and he never misses the unprotected.

These arrows are not just arrows, which would be deadly enough, they are fiery arrows intended not just to kill and destroy but to burn. This fire, brothers and sisters, is quenched by the living waters that flows from the throne room of God. Come to God today before His throne, put the fire out, take up the shield of faith and stand in the evil day. May God bless you and be with you in the battle.....bro Frank

Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Very timely, article, Frank, since I am dealing with a narcissist person.

An insight came to me the other day: we are not to allow another person's sin to interfere with our life. To make this possible I have to back off and not assume any responsibility for their sin; surrender it to God for his intervention. Otherwise, it will surely eat you alive, no doubt about it.

God bless you sister, these people, perhaps even sociopaths, can leave terrible paths of destruction in their trails. Wisdom from God on high is so needed..........bro Frank

When I read the title of the thread and read what you wrote brother, I thought of this verse:

Galatians 5:15 New International Version (NIV)

15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

In the end our struggle can be our own flesh in unforgiveness or not willing to serve others above ourselves. The undestrucable man is the one who full of love knows that all they can do is destroy the flesh not the very spirit. Love conquerors all.

Also in the passage you quoted our struggle is not against human beings but against spiritual powers behind them.

These are just some of the things that come to mind.

Reading the title... I thought actually of the Christians in the first century. I thought about our persecuted brethren...

And for me this days, the fear of being eaten alive is much more fear of losing your face, reputation and respect from others just because you are a Christian. But "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Therefore casting away all fear, abide in His love! Abide in Him and through Him we will overcome... He will lead us even.. even unto death! Amen!

When I read the title, I thought it was about how Christians are being eaten by sin when they think they are alive in Christ as a new creation! Any alive person will have the response to run away from anything that has a threat to his life. Since calls this survival instincts. Same way if we are truly alive in Jesus then we will also have our senses trained to run from things (sins) that are threat to this life in Jesus.

Dear sister Sandra, I am so glad that you got what I was writing. I am afraid the others guys are just way off base on what I was writing, another subject perhaps but not what I was writing about. But then we are much older I suspect :)...........bro Frank
