False Christs and false prophets arising...............

Matthew 24 Jesus warns us about those people who would tell us that the Christ is over there or over here. Jesus said do not go after them because many false Christs and false prophets will arise to deceive and we see that happening in false organizations.

I wonder do you person know of any individuals who are claiming to be God? To be Christ? Or know anyone who is following an individual who is doing that same thing?

I have crossed paths with someone under this kind of delusion and he has a number of people under his spell. The conversations I have with him and one of his followers is very incoherent. It is a typical thing where they have their favorite scriptures they use to weave of web of doctrine that isn't true but if you do know know how to compare and contrast anyone can be open to the deception.

With this particular guy his doctrine is summed up as He is God and he is Rev 14:7-10. He uses 1 timothy about God wills that all men be saved and concludes Universal salvation and denies hell. He also pushes the OT text that God creates both good and evil. I am treating this 'case' as I would a JW. Patience and being steadfast with a scripture and not allowing diversion scriptures to be a distraction. I am also using this has practice for 'future events' because I never know if I ever run into more fruit loops who have similar thinking.

When I read Matthew 24 and Jesus talks about false christs it really makes me think of ministries like Bethel. People always calling themselves "apostles" and "prophets". I am not a cessationist by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't believe there are apostles today (if there are, please show me one; and he must fit the criteria scripture gives). Prophets, yes, but they don't go around constantly calling themselves prophets, like "Hi, I'm Prophet Nigel"...

And no, I don't personally know anyone claiming to be God or Jesus, but I do know people that claim to represent Him but in reality do not.

But what you dont know is that its more like undercover boss for a while that goes from 0 knowing to the whole world knowing that King James is the 2nd coming name. And just for you to know.,..... My older posts like from way early last year and before used to be all about how the Lord has chosen his King and I am he.
That causes debate and struggle from what I have seen.... what frees people from the guilt of their past deeds is knowing that it was all really the Lord hardening and softening their hearts at any one time to do any one thing and that EVERYONE IS JUST A VESSEL that the Lord controls through this heart manipulation. That coupled with the fact that it is written EVIL comes from the Lord and no where else does it come from. There is peace that passes all understanding when this is known and lifestyle lived. You never worry if something in the future is not going to work out right or anything to do with the future because you know the Lord is in control of it all....... any evil that does come you know its from the Lord and for a reason .... to shape and mold you etc..... Listen.... evil causes suffering.... suffering causes one to become humble

I appreciate what John wrote here, this was the beloved apostle, the same one who rested his head on Jesus' chest and when He saw the Resurrected Christ he fell at his feet as dead. Something to ponder.

I have heard of false christs and false prophets I can think of a few I would call false in contemporary christianity but will not here, normally those are things I reserve for conversations with God and on occasion my wife. I can say this , I have known several who claim to be nothing and I really think they are prophets.

Just a suggestion here, out of good intent...

I encourage you to pray about your engagement with this guy, as well as others who are caught up in cults. The 2nd epistle of John warns us against receiving those who do not bring the doctrine of Christ:

From my own experience, I find that exposure to wrong doctrine can affect us in subtle and almost subconscious ways. We are putting ourselves in a vulnerable situation - one needs to rigidly cling on to the Word of God, and renew our mind accordingly.

Always good to guard our hearts and minds in God.

I used to be in a church held in high esteem by many. The pastor often condemned the prosperity gospel in his sermons, but secretly he LOVES living the life of a millionaire with a beautiful home on a lake 50 miles away from the church (largely unknown to the congregation), whereas many of his church workers slave away on minimum wage (with no raise for over fifteen years). During sermons he (and his wife, too) would often shout, "I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST! I CANNOT BE DEFEATED! NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST US SHALL PROSPER! THIS IS THE HERITAGE OF THE SAINTS!" with the crowd roaring in adulation. Sounds blasphemous, doesn't it? He would also occasionally say to someone who met his approval, "In Christ's stead I say to you, 'Well done.'" Anyone who worked at the church who dared to question him would be fired, as a number have been. Anyone else who was fired was made to sign an 8 page legal document, a gag order that didn't permit the former employee to tell anyone---including family and friends---why he/she was fired, then they would receive some severance pay.

Like many other churches this one uses a medley of worship songs, many of them the contemporary, shallow, and very repetitive kind of mind-numbing mantras that would condition the people to receive the content of his sermons (which were often rife with internal church politics) and to shape them into submissive, docile behavior that could be easily manipulated.

Ezekiel saw a church within a church, if you recall (in chapter 8). In a vision he dug into a wall of the temple at Jerusalem and saw a room where the priests were secretly worshipping idols and creeping things. One former employee, upon resigning from my old church, asked the leadership if they were part of a secret society (as opposed to being transparent, accountable Christians).

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us" (1 John 2:18, 19).

Those priests whom Ezekiel saw did not leave the temple, but they had long ago left off walking in the Spirit, that is if they had been saved at all in the first place. They had a secret (and abominable) fellowship that was not a part of the larger congregation---and history repeats itself time and again.

Yeah, this is what I am going to do. I was meditating on this situation as well as thinking about yeuhan mentioned as well. The more postings I seem from the guy the more delusional I see he become in his postings. I couldn't help but wonder if he is the kind of person that is predestined to judge because he will only wax worse and worse?

So what I have asked him to give me a 'testimony' of where he came up with his nonsense and after that I will unfriend him. I am giving him a certain amount of time before that happens. In the meantime I am posting the Gospel with the forgiveness of sins and the exhortation to watch out for false teachers among you on this postings. At least in this way, while the time is short, his 'followers' will see this and have the Gospel given to them while they 'amen' his rantings.

I believe your exhortation agrees with the answer that came to me in meditation over it. Would that be the Holy Spirit?

bearmaster, the contact is just a delusional fool. I friended him only to find out why one of his followers was posting such ridiculous doctrine. She pointed to him so I went to the source to find out what is going on there. Now that I see his posts are very delusional. He rambles and it seems a number of people are agreeing with his web of delusion and on occasion some post saying he is lying to everyone. I will be unfriend him shortly. He will wax worse and worse.

In my contacts with people who are going off the rails, they literally are. I am appalled with their philosophy, their reasoning, makes no sense. Then I wonder how on earth did they ever get there? So dumb... I consider it dangerous to my own well-being to have close relationships with them lest I also get influenced by them. However, in answering my own question, I suspect they did a lot of mental wrangling with the Holy Spirit to get where they are and finally God gave them over to a reprobate mind. Tim declares them mentally ill - modern term for this delusion.

I don't see any reason for us to give up on him, because Jesus won't. Even if he is demon possessed, there is still hope for him. Everyone please remember that this is an immortal soul we're talking about here.
