I attended my first Nazarene service Sunday

I went with a friend of mine in Tallahassee where I used to live before relocating to Minnesota. I don't know much about the Nazarenes except I've heard sort of a floating rumor that they can be a bit legalistic. But I was edified by the service. They prayed and sang like people who knew God. The old style hymns were refreshing for a change. The sermon was excellent. I've been studying the atonement and its benefits to us and the first words out of the pastor's mouth as he prayed were, "Lord we thank you for the atonement and its benefits toward us." God is big. Not that my opinion is the end in all but these Nazarenes had God with them. PTL.

I wonder if the Nazarenes are dividing into conservative and liberal.

My wife and I attended a Nazarene church for about 3-4 years. Initially it was because they had a Saturday night service which was very laid back. They even served coffee, water and cookies. We went there when I had to work on weekends. They didn't singing hymns though. It was a worship band. They also put together food packets for homeless kids every 2 weeks. They also had a couple of female ushers.

We left because the church was too much a cross between Joel Osteen and Rick Warren. They actually used a Rick Warren book for a 'life group'. We joined one for a short while and the leader didn't like the RIck warren thing so he had a meeting with the pastor. Not long after he and his wife left. A few years later, when we changed churches we found that couple as members of this other church. It is a Presb church.
