After reading the heated discussion on whether a believer can be saved if he dies in unrepentant sin I have been made to wonder whether we are approaching the subject from a dangerously incorrect angle. I love my wife dearly. Do I ever ponder over how much I can offend her without hurting or destroying our marriage? Never! Instead I devote my entire self to caring for her, protecting her and blessing her. When I inadvertently do hurt her feelings I am deeply grieved and waste no time in apologizing to her - I cannot afford even for a moment to mar so precious a relationship!
What about the God of the universe Who so deeply loved us as to send His Own Son to Calvary to restore a relationship which we ourselves had broken? Rightfully He demands that we love Him with all our heart, mind, soul and strength! Dare we despise a salvation so great by contemplating over how much we can grieve Him in this life without risking being separated from Him throughout eternity? God forbid! If we truly love Him we will daily be in close communion with Him and abhor anything that could spoil this blessed union. I am sad when I realize that I have done wrong and waste no time in repenting of my sin. May He help me keep my heart tender before Him! May I truly love Him!
