From the article: "The Moroccan specimens were found between 2007 and 2011 and include a skull, a jaw and teeth, along with stone tools. Combined with other bones that were found there decades ago but not correctly dated, the fossil collection represents at least five people, including young adults, an adolescent and a child of around 8 years old. Analysis shows their brain shape was more elongated than what people have today.

"In the last 300,000 years, the main story is the change of the brain," Hublin said.

When these ancient people lived, the site in Morocco was a cave that might have served as a hunting camp, where people butchered and ate gazelles and other prey. They used fire and their tools were made of flint from about 25 miles (40 kilometers) away."

My wife and I had a fairly heated but fun argument about this topic(but not this specific article) a couple of weeks ago.

I told her that based on the biblical record I have a hard time figuring out who the "cave men" (i.e. primitive men) were and how they fit in. In biblical record man immediately had high intellect, used tools, language, worshiped, built cities, etc.

I won't say the specifics of her theory, which I had not heard before, but I adamantly disagreed. But hey she might be right.

I knew the earth was older than 6000 years!! LOL

Have a sense of humor!! :)

Even if the earth is only 6000 years old (which I certainly don't concede) the question still remains where primitive cave men go in the Bible record. It is actually HARDER to account for them if the earth is only 6000 years old.

If God created man in his image, God would not have created a primitive caveman.

Yet they appear to have existed- that's the problem.

Could God have created beings with human DNA yet not in his image?

Todd you put far too much faith in the opinions of the blind world and their curcular reasoning. There are easy explanations about so called cave men, but I don't have time now. Just consider the current day headhunter type tribes people who live primitive lives. Are they lesser humans or less intelligent? May be ignorant, but not less intellectually capable!

Of course I know about them but where do they fit into the biblical record? If all known peoples were at Babel, they were all of a certain mental/social capability. Then they were dispersed per the story.

The only explanation I can really think of is sudden isolation. But I think sudden isolation today would create primitive people quicker than back then, because we rely so much on technology. For example, if I was suddenly isolated on a desert island I am sure my house would look pretty shaky.

Don't forget there was a flood. That could have thrown back human development. Just a thought.

Always thought that the flood eliminated the dinosaurs. Hard to swallow that a meteor struck the earth and brought the demise of the dinosaurs.

True Bear but Babel was post flood.

I think this topic is very interesting. Hope no one minds.

Have you seen the new documentary "Is Genesis History?"

It addresses this as well as most other "paradigm" issues quite well:)

Babel poat flood? Okay scrstch that theory. But I wonder if the flood wiped out the dinisauers?

Fletcher- I saw that on Netflix but haven't watched it yet. I will.

Bear- I don't believe TRex or any dino was wiped out by the flood nor were any on the ark as they were already extinct, at least for the most part. Just my opinion of course.

I love studying this too TMK. I believe that the reason the skeletons we dig up look different to us is because we fail to account for the longer life-spans. Pre-flood, man was living for 900+ years, and even post flood 600, then 400, then 200.

There are certain bones in the face that never stop growing, eyebrow ridges for one, so a human skull that was 250 years old would look much different than what we are used to. The bones grow, and elongate the face and stretch the muscles, forming the whole "cave-like" look. It's just the skull of a person that lived longer.

Ancient man pre-flood was extremely intelligent and advanced technologically, but then the flood wiped out everything and had to start over. They reverted back to hunter-gathering for a while, because you can't exactly build a city from scratch when the whole face of the earth has been changed due to the flood. So they migrated, stayed in caves and made tools on the spot and followed the animals. Eventually man was able to get out of the hunter-gathering mode again.

If a world-wide catastrophic flood happened today, and buried all cities in mud, formed new mountain ranges and wiped everything out, I don't think we would just start with i-phones and prius' again. We would be back to square one, like they were. And then people would come along and say, "man these people were so primitive, they made primitive tools to hunt animals, they must have been so much lesser and inferior than we are". No, we were trying not to starve to death while figuring out how to start over again.

I'm sure you will have a ton of responsive questions on this, and believe me, I am no expert on the subject. I have done some homework though, and I think there is plausible explanations for all of this.

God bless,

I can accept your explanations Kevin as they do make sense. Like I said if I was stranded on an island and had to build a house it would look pretty crappy.

All this dating techniques cannot be accurate. It is all based on the theory of how Carbon decay which is believed to fall a particular pattern. But who knows if these patterns are right? There is no prove, just theories and technologies based on those theories. Hence there is clearly a possibility of them being wrong by very big margin.

Also just because Bible does not mention anything does not mean it did not exist. Whatever is said in the Bible are very accurate. That is good enough for me.

I agree Sree. Just curious how it all fits in.

I will say as an aside that when carbon dating supports something biblical Christians are happy to accept it.
